About the Author

Alicia Alvarez holds a B.A. in Journalism from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, in Bogota and a M.S. in Foreign Language / ESL from the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville. Alicia has 11 years of classroom experience in grades K – 5. She has planned, developed and implemented a 3rd grade FLES Spanish program; a 1st and 3rd grade Spanish Partial Immersion Program; and a K – 5 Spanish Enrichment Program at three different elementary schools in Tennessee. She presents workshops on FLES curriculum development and teaching strategies, and is also the author of K – 5 SMART Spanish Storytelling. Alicia enjoys reading, dancing, working out, traveling, and spending time with John. She lives in Oak Ridge, Tennessee with her son Stephen.
