About the Author

Richard Lewis Robinson is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is the first son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Robinson; has three brothers and one sister; is married to the former Janette D. Rice of Spartanburg. They have three children.

Mr. Robinson graduated in 1965 from Carver High School [Spartanburg, SC], and attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina from 1965 to 1966. He is a graduate of the Art Instructors School of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his Art Diploma in 1969, and a degree in Advertising and Illustration. In 1977, Mr. Robinson received an Associates Degree in Business Administration from the Spartanburg Technical College.

A former Sunday School teacher of 10 years for the junior class at Golden Street Baptist Church, Mr . Robinson is currently a member of Bibleway Holiness Church of Inman, South Carolina. He received the Honor Award from the Vogelweh Chapel [Kaiserslautern, Germany] -a certificate awarded by the chapel and staff for faithful service to the community. Mr. Robinson served in the United States Army in Europe [Kaiserslautern, Germany] as a Clerk and Switchboard Operator from 1970 to 1972; was elected as Correctional Office Representative for the Northside Correctional Center [Spartanburg, SC] from 1987 to 1989; served in the 178th Infantry Division of the National Guard [Spartanburg, SC] from 1989 to 1991, as a Cook. In 1990, Mr. Robinson served as President of the Bethlehem Center Parents and Teachers Club [Spartanburg, SC].

In the Spartanburg [SC] area Mr. Robinson has held such positions as Commercial Artist for Cryovac, Division of W.R. Grace Corporation for 10 years; was a Correctional Officer at Northside Correctional Center, a Minimum Security Institution for 3 years, and has been employed for the last 10 years at the Spartanburg County Detention Center as a Detention Officer Corporal.
