This book is not a biography, by any stretch of the imagination, but rather a collection of wonderful memories that help to tell the story of Herman B Wells --the everyday person, his relationship with his office colleagues, his sense of humor, his frustrations, his acts of caring, and above all his love for his students.

Mildred J. Hennessy
Mildred Hennessy was a Secretary to President Herman B Wells during his last four years as President of Indiana University (1958-1962), and served as his Office Manager during his first three years as Chancellor (1962-1965).
She was in a unique position to observe the tireless leadership of Dr. Wells as he undertook the everyday activities in fulfilling his responsibilities as President and Chancellor of Indiana University.
After leaving the Chancellor’s office in 1965 she became a partner in her husband’s International Training Consulting Firm where she held the position of Publication and Film Editor until her retirement in 1995. During this time she co-authored, with her husband, the book Instructional Systems Development, designed for Trainers and Instructors in business and industry.
