About the Book

“Obedience to God is not just doing what He tells us to do.  Obedience to God is doing what He tells us to do, when He tells us to do it!  It is being sensitive to God’s timing as well as His word and work.  Had Philip not left when called, or ran when told, he would have missed the carrier of the gospel to Ethiopia.”

Poolside Reflections is a pilgrimage of impressions highlighting missions, ministry and the Christian walk.  It combines personal experience, Biblical stories and parables in poetry to share the vision of missions and ministry as well as to offer inspirational thoughts in basic Christian living.

Poolside Reflections is named for our family – the Pools.  They are our reflections of God’s call upon our lives for service, His grace that was fleshed out in ministry and our growth over the years.  Some will enjoy the book for the stories, some for the insights from the Word of God, while others will cherish and share the poems.  It is my prayer that you will be inspired, challenged and changed by reading them.  This is more than a devotional – it is a pilgrimage.

About the Author

Randy Pool, native of Tennessee, is the son of a career Navy officer, and has lived on both coasts and Puerto Rico.  A graduate of Union University and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Randy has served for over twenty years in the ministry including eleven years overseas in international missions.

Writing is his favorite pastime.  He has written a novel of Christian fiction called “The Breach  (also published by 1st Books Library) and is working on its sequel.  He has several articles printed in various mission publications.

It has been said that men are defined by what they do.  If such were the case, then Randy Pool would be a missionary.  But those who know him – know there is more.  Even his wife, Cindy, is not sure how to define Randy after twenty-five years of marriage, but one thing is for certain.  He is not just a missionary.
