About the Book

Sergeant Jake Tanner of the NYPD is renowned for taking down corruption at its worst. He's strong, he's stealthy, and he's a menace to the unclean side of town. The envy of every man and the heartthrob of every woman, Jake is the perfect guy, the perfect cop... at least to New York.

But Jake hasn't always been this way. Before he became a hard-hitting crime fighter, the local sex symbol, and an American citizen, Jake was a poor, simple rancher in the outskirts of a small Australian town called Ballarat. But that's all behind him now...right?

Jake's former life is rekindled when his wild-eyed, scrubby, cousin flies in for a visit with troubling news. Now Jake must leave the U.S. for the seemingly dull atmosphere of his uncle's farm. There, he meets up with Zoe, his audacious childhood sweetheart who recently divorced a violent and jealous entrepreneur, his overprotective aunt, wise uncle, and a malicious intellectual outdoorsman with a love for travel.

Just when it seems Jake's life is coming back together, an unexpected visitor drops in and kidnaps Zoe. Jake must find a way to rescue her, with only the memories from his past to help him.
