Sam and the Floorboard Gang, the First Adventure

At about 10:30 p.m., things started happening.  As we sat on the floor waiting to begin, we heard it.  It was different tonight, though.  It was very, very quiet but it sounded like music and muffled laughter.  We both laid down on the floor and listened and we both heard the exact same thing.

"Yes, at least now I know I didn't imagine it!” I exclaimed. "What do you think it is Bobby?"

"I'm not sure.  I need to keep listening for a while," he answered with his ear to the floor.

After about 20 minutes and almost falling asleep while lying there, I decided it was now or never.  I got the screwdrivers and flashlight and showed Bobby where I sliced through with the file the night before.  He saw the light come through as soon as he looked.

"Wow, I don't believe it! You weren't kidding," he exclaimed.

"Told you!" I smirked.  "Why don't you start at one end of the room and I'll start at the other." I decided.  "Then when we meet in the middle, the board should lift right up and over for us."

"Sounds good to me," replied Bobby as he picked up a screwdriver.

I began to pick at the grooves in the floorboards, going back and forth, back and forth, with the tool.  Bobby and I worked together like a fine-tuned machine, as we scraped and picked in-between the wood.  About an hour later, we met in the middle.

"Okay, this is it!" I said with a little hesitation.  "Are you ready to lift the board and look underneath?"

Bobby smiled and said, "As ready as I'll ever be!"

We pried the wood up with the screwdrivers and were surprised how easily it lifted.  What we didn't expect is what we saw after we lifted the boards.

I caught a glimpse of Bobby's face just before he passed out cold!
