V. Stefanuk started playing piano at the age of 5. He composed his first piece
when he was 9. Mr. Stefanuk studied at the Moscow Studio of Music Improvisation
Art, the Moscow Conservatory School, the Russian Academy of Music, Belmont
University, Skidmore Jazz Institute, and Washington State University. He has
written more then 90 works for a variety of instrumentations, as well as music
for more than 30 theater shows. Y2K
Survival Guide with Leonard Nemoy, for which he wrote the music, has sold
more than 70,000 copies. Misha has composed a significant amount of music for
network television, including programs such as One Life to Live(ABC), All My
Children(ABC), First Monday (CBS)
and the Chris Isaak Show (Showtime).
Among his other works are the Mel Bay bestseller Jazz Piano Chords and Young
Person’s Guide to Jazz Music.
Mr. Stefanuk is a prize winner of
the Stereotypes and Nations Composition Competition held by Muzica Centrum Art
Society in Cracow, Poland for his composition Equinokse for oboe, string trio and prepared piano, and of the
Concerto Aria Composition Competition at Belmont University for his piece The New American Symphony. He was also
named Outstanding Piano Player at the l29th Annual Lionel Hampton Jazz
Festival, and won full scholarships at Belmont University, Washington State
University, and Skidmore Summer Jazz Institute. Mr. Stefanuk has more than 20
CD’s commercially available varying from Contemporary Classical to Jazz, New
Age and Pop.
Evan Dozier-Stefanuk is a soprano
and composer. She has studied music since from the age of 14 to age 22 at
Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music. She obtained her bachelor of
music degree from Vanderbilt, graduating summa cum laude. Among her teachers
and master classes were Dr. Jonathan Miller, Dr. Jonathan Retzlaff, Carol
Webber and others. Evan Dozier-Stefanuk is an accomplished vocalist with
repertoire in classical, jazz and church music as well as popular music and
Broadway musicals. Evan was chosen by Vanderbilt to lead a music theory
research project on Karl Friedrich Weitzmann's Treatise on Augmented 6th Chords, working with the music
of Franz Liszt, the results of which are now pending publication. Evan was on
the dean’s list for seven semesters, a member of Vocal Major's Association, Eta
Iota chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society, and she was a Student
Marshall at Vanderbilt 2000 Commencement. Evan was involved in writing and
editing nine educational books for Mel Bay publications. Recently, Evan moved
from New York City to Atlanta, where she is now teaching voice and piano. In
Atlanta she is also an active soprano performer with companies such as the
Atlanta Opera, performing in Verdi’s Aida
(October 2003) and Tchaikovsky's Eugene
Onegin (February 2004), and the Atlanta Lyric Theatre, where she performed in The Pirates of Penzance (February
2003) and as Nimue in Camelot (April
2003).
Evan and Misha teach over a
hundred students at Johnson Ferry Conservatory of Music in Atlanta Georgia and
privately. Among them are TV personalities, winners of National and regional
competitions, finalists in American Idol and
America’s Most Talented Kid and a
winner of Chopin Young Artist Piano Competition.
