I DREAMT OF A FAIRY
I dreamt a dream of a pretty
fairy standing on a white sandy shore.
She handed me a book of wise
and ancient fairy lore.
“Swear,” she said, her eyes to mine.
“Swear to read me truly.” And I
swore.
Glancing down I saw my name
there lightly written in her fairy freehand.
Overcome by her beauty, I
foolishly reached too soon for her hand.
And this lovely lady fairy
she floated away over the sand.
“Read on.
Read of me,”
she said as the wind carried her away.
“Read of fairies and those of us man will
betray.”
“Will you come again? Will you?” I shouted running her way.
Scared stupid in my awakened
need, I chased her magical benevolence,
read in her parting smile a gift of love, hope and of me,
possible remembrance.
“Oh God!” I
cried. “Oh God! Am I of such little consequence?”
When she was gone I returned
to the book I had dropped as I ran.
In horror and in tears I
settled down to read the story of fairy and of man.
I don’t know how it will
end. I rewrite it as I can.
A FOREIGN COUNTRY
It was a foreign country and
he was lost.
The grass was too green, the
slopes too extreme.
His car could not be found
and somewhere he had left his soul.
Somewhere
hard to remember.
He had a map but couldn’t
read it.
Where had he put his soul?
He was lost and no one was
looking.
The horror was familiar but
the woman was not.
She had asked him to stay
then was glad when he had said,
“Maybe I’d better go.”
Women always love the weak
man, rush to his rescue.
They love the superficial and
easy to understand.
The country was foreign.
The people there unfriendly,
Save for the children who
recognized him.
But they were unreliable.
A little
quiet time.
A lot of nowhere time.
And maybe it would all come
back to him.
Where had he put his soul?
Maybe he left it on her
breasts?

Fairy, is a collection of love poems,
a collection of love gone wrong poems. It's a book of love's failures and final
redemption. It traces the history a beautiful woman, the man who loved her, the
magic she brought into his life and the greatness of his loss.
Many of the works included
here have been published separately in various poetry magazines or Ezines including Rhapsody, Straight From The Heart, Seeker Magazine, Snakeskin, Muse's Kiss, Black Creek Review and Poetic License. The editor of A Beautiful Muse
reported
the poetry of Mr. Haun

invite you, gentle reader, “Tilt your heart to listen as I whisper, 'I love
you'"
About the Author
A warm, fun loving man Ron Haun enjoys
people. Yet he is a genuinely private man often confusing to his friends. He
has confided his life to words most of his life. He found his true voice
several years ago when he chanced upon a most rewarding muse and poetry was
born. He speaks of the encounters between intimate souls, lovers, friends,
family and even of himself. His chapbook, Dance of The Sparrow came
out in 2001, an earlier, briefer version of Beloved
Fairy. The publisher of that work, Sweet Annie & Sweet Pea Review, also
published an earlier, briefer version of Beloved
Fairy.
