DAD
Dad you sit so quiet and love so hard
Your strength lies in your ability not to be marred
By the test and trials that confronts us all,
You just sit and say God can handle it all.
You hold a special place in my heart
Because of the wisdom you impart.
You taught me how to be real quiet
When the devil inside want to be a real riot.
I watch as you love your wife and treat her kind
No matter how hard seem the times.
It seems as if your place in life is so overlooked
But I want you to know my heart you overtook.
I pray you live a long, long, time
To see my children and impart into mine
That slow to anger and quick to mercy spirit you possess
Will teach us all how to be at rest.
You have much work that still lies ahead
But I’m glad when we were children you stayed home instead.
We were never embarrassed with ugly rumors
And could always count on your great humor.
Because your heart is pure as gold
You have produced children God will uphold.
Thank you Lord my dad is here
To hear these words I hold so dear.
I hope these words in your heart inspire
You to keep that Holy ghost fire.
When it’s time to take your rest
I want you to know you are the Best!

About the Author
LaSonya Whitt possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and MBA in Business Administration. She is single and enjoys reading, biking, walking and writing.
While pursuing a corporate career, she always felt she had more to give than the workplace would allow her to express, so she began to pray diligently and seek God’s face as to what other talents she possessed.
One day while at work, Fathers day was approaching and she began to wonder how she could tell her dad all that he had meant to her over the years. Then the words began to flow into a format that was all it’s own, and that is how her poetry writing began.
