“I used to run with a fella named Ned Bridges, Tennessee boy. We did quite a bit of ridin’ together years ago, on both sides of the law. We’d moved our way across the country and ended up in Two Guns,” a small wasp flew near Owen’s neck as he spoke. He never budged. “Ned and me got into a poker game. We caught a couple of boys cheatin’. Ned called ‘em out. We invited ‘em outside and beat the tar out of ‘em,” Owen smiled.
The smile faded and grim anger took its place. “Next thing I knew, the whole side of Ned’s head exploded. Someone had dry gulched him. I looked over in time to see a big man holdin’ a smokin’ gun. It was Buck Gunter, Leon’s boy. I slapped leather, but before I could fire, everything went black... Somebody had blind-sided me with a blacksmith’s rod. Dang near bled too death, ‘til Colton found me. I woke up the next mornin’ in a sawbones’s bed.”
“What’d they do to Buck?” Paul asked.
Owen continued to stare toward the Gunter ranch. He drenched the dust with a stream of spit. “Not a damn thing. His ridin’ buddies were the only witnesses. They swore it was self-defense. Leon had the judge in his pocket. After that, Colton took me under his wing, been here ever since,” Owen’s eyes filled with a silent anger. “Hope to etch that boy’s name in stone one day.”

Serial West is a murder mystery, a horror story, and a western all wrapped up in one. The story is full of colorful characters and suspense. It is a series of twists and turns that ultimately lead to a shocking end.
About the Author
Jeff Lewis was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. He spent most of his time playing football and baseball. During college Jeff toured the southwest with his own country band. After college he moved to Nashville where he currently resides. He is a singer/songwriter, worked as an arson investigator and is currently a director of marketing. He is also an actor and recently worked in “Warrior”, a musical about Jim Thorpe, “Working With Glass”, “American Buffalo”, and the “Laramie Project”. Jeff is an avid golfer and loves to travel. He has been all over the world and most of the continental United States. Serial West is his first novel.
