You asked me the other night
If our love feels right to me
Because it is everything
You envisioned in your dreams

If I believe we are meant to be
There are no boundaries for our love
You are the only one I think of
The lady of my dreams
You mean everything to me too
There is nothing I would not do to prove to you
That my love is true
There used to be a time when I
Would wonder why a love like yours
Seemed to never be at my door
But I stayed patient hoping one day
Someone like you would come my way
And now that you are in my life
I’ll never take for granted
Having a woman like you
All I want to do is love you down
Do whatever it takes to make this last
Because I have learned to understand
Behind every strong man is a beautiful, intelligent woman
So I’m making plans for a future for you and me
There are no boundaries on how things will be
DEAR SISTA
I have some thoughts that I need to share with you
About how I heard through the grapevine
You said that good brothas like me are a rare breed
And that you can not find one
Who is willing to fulfill your needs and dreams
Do you want someone who
After a stressful day of work
Will run a bubble bath for you
Give you a massage to relax you
Say some encouraging words
To eliminate the hate you may have faced
During your rough day in the workplace
Put a smile on your face
Make you laugh to show
Pain does not last
Do you want someone who will
Love you for more than your appearance
Have an open ear
To listen to the wonderful ideas
Or issues that mean something to you
Do you want someone who can look
Deep into your eyes and soul
And help you realize there is no need
To look any further for the love you dream of
Because there is someone who wants to give you everything
Your heart desires
Dear Sista
Never allow one bad person
To make you believe
Your dream of real love can not happen
Keep your eyes open
Never lose hope
Because you never know what your future holds
ALL OF THE TIMES
The times that we shared
Seems to make me aware
That your love cannot be compared
To any of the others out there
The reason behind why I believe that
Stems from the fact
When I reflect
Put your love into retrospect
I come to the conclusion
What we have is more than an illusion
Reminiscing about how we first met
Not for a second do I regret
Opening my heart and coming through
With ways to say I love you
Those were the most natural words
That came to my mind
When showing how all the times
Taught me to keep no feelings behind
The lack of hesitation enables me
To define the destination of our love
And explain that it was you
Who answered all my dreams
By causing me to believe
That every second spent with you
Is more than a dream come true
All of the times allowed me to rewind
Reflect on the special love
That has brought me so much delight
Which in a loveless world
Something so precious is difficult to find

About the Book
Doug’s first book Fresh Thoughts is a collection of poetry, which displays the different types of thoughts and experiences people may cope with, in regards to relationships, romance and dealing with the emotional struggles in life. His poems provide a clear picture of the thoughts that can go on in a person’s mind in terms reaching out for love “Dear Sista”, the pain of losing love with “And I Picked Up The Phone-Part 1” and discovering the power of real love in life with “No Boundaries”.
Doug’s diversity in his poetic thoughts in this book ranges from his motivating “I Stand Tall” poem to his heart touching “If She Only Knew” poem. Doug touches on the pain of losing loved ones in his dedication poem to his Grandmother with “Reflection On A Phenomenal Woman”, which shows the how difficult it is to say good-bye.
About the Author
Doug’s purpose in writing this book is to let others know it is normal to experience pain in life, but to understand how you rebound from it shows the type of person you are and what a person truly seeks out of life. Living life and enjoying it to the fullest is very important to him because we are never guaranteed another day. Fresh Thoughts will stimulate a person’s mind toward the search of inner happiness and re-emphasize the types of feelings that can go on through his or her mind by the words of poetry.
