Accept the Fact You Are Different
“O Timothy keep
that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and
oppositions of science falsely so called. Which some professing have erred
concerning the faith....” 1 Timothy 6:20-21
If you or I want to we could just
about justify any opinion that we hold with a few exceptions of course. We could most likely come up with some very
good reasons for why we behave in the manner that we do. With others surrounding us who have a similar
disposition our belief that our way is ok will be further reinforced. The problem is that we confuse our opinions
with knowledge of the truth. God is the
only source of truth so if we are not permitting God's word to be our guide,
chances are we have a very clouded idea of right and
wrong. Timothy was told to keep that
which had been committed to his trust.
God expects all of us Christians to be good stewards of the gospel. He expects us not to allow our opinion or how
we feel or think to take over rule what we know is true.
Consider the homosexual debate of
our times. There are churches that have
decide God did not mean it when he forbade same sex relationships. Consequently we have gay priest and preachers
(I submit to you they are in name only) supported by their congregations. Heaping for themselves
those that will satisfy their itching ears. I can better understand why we were warned
about being ashamed of the gospel? The
time is now that we will be challenged with the intent to make us look foolish.
I thank God that I am not worried about
how I look. If I stand up for what God
says is right I will be labeled negatively so I have to prepare myself. Brothers and Sisters as you probably already know, the lost need Christ and we have to be true to what we
have learned and show a little backbone.
We can’t compromise because it helps us to fit in. Face it; Christians will never be accepted by
the world so don’t be deceived by appearances.
The world will love its own.
Fellowship is much more crucial to our survival. Seek out like-minded saints that reaffirm you
and I have not lost our minds.
Don't let the pressure or desire
to fit in cause you to feel ashamed about whom you are in Christ. One day there is going to be a lot of folks
dying to be in your shoes. They would give anything to be odd like you. Accept
the fact you are different.
Alone In the Park
As I listened to his words of
pain
about his life and his disappointments
A story told of love lost
A family broken, never to be the same
Through his wondering eyes
Searching the sky for answers
A worn expression fixed on his face
Tells me that he sees no answers to ponder
There are people all around but he can’t see them
He’s drowning in his sorrows but won’t scream for help
Am I to be his rescue, as I reach out a hand
I look closer I can see the wife of his youth
How did he let her slip from his fingers
Bitter sweet memories are told in every wrinkle
Betrayal of hope that still linger in his heart
A few hours spent on a weather worn bench
To hear a soul lament the value of knowing
How not to forget those who give meaning
Forgiveness is the key to freedom
To what would otherwise be just a lonely life
Walls of stubbornness embrace solitary confinement
Like a day alone in the park
