Mary, Martha, and Me
I’ve always been a Martha
Concerned with all the plans
Putting things in order
Instead of in God’s hands
Hospitality is a gift
So many people say
But spending all your time in the kitchen
Can really ruin your day
I’ve always been in the kitchen
When guests have come to call
Preparing wondrous meals
Not enjoying the guests at all
I’ve done the same with Jesus
Who has tried to be my friend
I spend my time preparing
With frustration I contend
I wanted to be like Mary
But never took the time
To spend time with the Savior
And find the peace sublime
Then I spent time with Jesus
Just sitting at His feet
I marveled how such peace and joy
Made me feel so complete
Lord, I want to be like Mary
Let me linger there
Sitting at Your feet
Touching Your face so fair
Your love shines round about me
Your peace is everywhere
You hold me in your gentle arms
You wipe away my tears
You want me to come to You
There is nothing in the way
The glory’s mine forever
You won’t take it away
Lord, teach me how to live my life
So every day will carry
Some time for being Martha
And more time for being Mary
Let Your Heart Shine
Through the intricacies of God’s plan
You were formed in your mother’s womb.
Created there was a special place
Deep within your heart
A place where God can dwell
If only you invite Him in
As He is living there you cannot deny His love
It glows within you--You are consumed with a fire
A blazing flame fed by His Word
Fed by fellowship with other believers
Illustrated by worship and desire to serve
A burning heart for the lost souls
Whose fire has grown cold
You hunger to fill the empty places of the world
Cast away demons who lie and deceive
Restore the flames that once burned
Light some flames for the first time
It all begins when your heart glows
Filled with God’s presence, God’s Glory, God’s love
Let your heart so shine

About the Book
From the Inside Out is a collection of prose and poetry reflecting the author’s personal glimpses of many aspects of life. This volume encompasses more than thirty-eight years of writings on topics such as friendship, love, encouragement, sympathy and the love of God. It includes prayers, praises, songs and descriptions of people and events close to the heart of the author. It is through this work the author invites the reader to be inspired, encouraged and blessed by the words written within these pages and to experience the love of God in a new and refreshing way.
About the Author
Judy Grubb received her B.S.ED. (1974) and M.S. (1976) in Mathematics Education from Northern Illinois University. She has been a high school mathematics teacher for the past twenty-seven years. Writing poetry has been a pastime of hers for years. She uses it as a tool to share ideas, encourage others and share her faith in God. Her poems have been read at weddings and other church services. Judy, her husband of eighteen years, Leon, and daughter Elisabeth reside in Waukegan, Illinois and are very active in their church. Her other hobbies include reading and knitting. Although some of her poems have appeared on different web sites, this is her first formally published book.
