About the Book
The Young
Buccaneers is an adventure novel, written for young adults. Centuries ago, young boys ranging in age
between eleven and fourteen, served aboard Man-O-War, merchant, and pirate
ships alike. The scull and crossbones
flag, called the Jolly Roger, over saw it all.
Follow the adventures of Toby Pembers.
This is his story.
He lived in close quarters with some of the most
infamous pirate captains ever to walk those blood stained decks. When captured
and forced to serve, he vowed to defeat the captain that killed his parents and
caused him to be hunted as a pirate. You will meet Blackbeard, Captain Charles
Vane, Major Stede Bonnet, Captain Calico Jack and the Lady Pirates. Their names are forever engraved in the
history of those violent times.
About the Author
For the past decade, Thomas Patten had called the
Caribbean his world and his sailboat home.
In his early years, he attended collage in Arkansas then did a tour with
the U.S.A.F. After discharge, he
operated a detective agency with his father.
By the early 70’s, he made a career change to
commercial flying. Later, after a bush
flying contract in the Middle East, a sailing vessel was purchased. Aboard that schooner he sailed
throughout the Mediterranean then from Africa to the Caribbean. During the next
decade, he sailed from Venezuela up through the West Indies, the Virgin
Islands, then the Antilles and on to Honduras, Guatemala and Belize.
The stories that he has written are
fiction, but undoubtedly the ideas and insight for such novels have come from a
life of travel, adventure, romance and his own particular talent for telling a
good tale.
To date he has completed one mystery, three
adventure novels, and this young adult tale about the Golden Age of Piracy.
Today he lives in Houston Texas with his long time
sailing partner, best friend and love, Gisela.
She and his faithful boat dog, Cuda, are at his side while he works on
another novel.
