Just as the boys rounded the last turn on the path,
they heard a deep grunt nearby. “Hey,
Chip, that sounds like a pig snorting over there in those bushes.
Let’s go take a look!” Marty said excitedly.
Before the boys could take a single step, a large, round
animal with four short, stubby legs covered with what looked like prickly fur
came running toward them at lightning speed!
Marty grabbed Chip’s arm and pulled him out of the way just in time
before the creature jabbed Chip in the leg with its bony little horns that came
out of both sides of its short snout.
Without saying a word, the boys got up off the ground
and ran out of the forest with their wobbly legs flying out in back of
them. Their hearts pounded with
excitement and fear with each step they took.
