Throughout this book I use the word Spirit.  Spirit is a term that I use to describe my Higher Power. For you it may be God, Allah, Holy Spirit, Jesus, Buddha, Goddess, Virgin Mary or any other name that you use in your faith.  They are all the same. They are the Source. The word Spirit is in no way intended to offend anyone, his or her faith or his or her religion.  Reiki is not a religion.  It is not a cult. People of all faiths and beliefs practice Reiki.  The one common goal you will find with all Reiki Practitioners is the fact that they want to heal.  They want to heal their friends and family. A Reiki practitioner wants to heal a stranger who comes to them as a last resort. A Reiki practitioner wants to offer healing even when that person does not know what healing truly is.  They want to heal the Earth and heal a suffering area. These are only a few of the ways that we are all truly connected.  It doesn’t matter what your belief system is for we all have a soul and through Reiki our souls are connected.  Spirit connects all our souls.

How I arrived at this point in my life is more than just a story.  It is a journey of finding an inner peace of being able to recognize the way that Spirit had begun to communicate with me, and an understanding about trusting myself and not being afraid of taking a chance. A time in my life, when I was at a total standstill and then a door was opened.  Having the courage to walk through it and continue to walk the path that is being laid before me.  This was a time when a Light was shown, a knowing, a comforting voice, an answer to a question.  This is how it happened. This is how I answered the call to become a Reiki Master.

You are invited to take this journey with me through the pages of this book.  It was through Spirit that I was inspired to write it.  It is all true.  This is not fiction but fact.  I only ask that you open your mind to the possibility that events like this can also happen to you.  You are holding this book in your hands for a reason. Maybe this is your first step, the first step in letting Spirit begin to open new doors and a new way of thinking for you. How many times have you had a hunch or a feeling and ignored it, then later wished you didn’t?  Was Spirit communicating with you then, sending you signs and guidance but you were not aware enough to recognize it, or just too closed minded to think it is possible?  Don’t feel bad. I have been there too. We all have until one day something wonderful happens, something we cannot explain, something not of this world. Then was as if we were asleep and now have awakened.  

 Come share with me how my awakening took place, how the events happened in this sequence for a reason. Yes, it is a journey of how I became a Reiki Master, but it is also much more than that. It is finding out who I truly am and my true purpose in this life, of finding my spirituality and letting it lead me on my path, how one person can truly affect another and how my actions can also affect them. 

We think that we are so much in control of our lives. We think that we know it all and know what needs to be done. How many times do we put others needs before our own? When was the last time we have shown someone, maybe a stranger, unconditional love?  And when was the last time we wanted to carry a burden for someone else?  No, we have a lot more to learn.  But we must start somewhere. This is how I started and how Reiki still continues to remind me. 

So get yourself a warm cup of tea. Maybe get a blanket that you like to snuggle with and get into your favorite chair or lie in your bed with the pillows just right.  Ask Spirit to be with you while you read this.  And just for your information, Spirit already is, but now you are aware of it. ------..So let us begin.
