The movers arrived early the next morning and carefully removed the antiques from the attic and carriage house that had been tagged and catalogued for the auction. Three large vans were packed to the brim with furniture and boxes, each carefully covered with packing blankets. This was valuable cargo and the movers knew it. Jake watched from the verandah as Tim and Jenna shook hands with the last driver and waved farewell.
It was late afternoon as the convoy of trucks left the house. Tears rolled down Jake’s weathered old cheeks and onto his shirt. He watched the movers round the bend and disappear down the road. A lifetime of collections and memories were packed away in heavy gray blankets heading toward other lives to make new memories for new people. Jake only hoped they would appreciate the beauty of those precious antiques, even half as much as he had.
Jenna put her arm around him and
guided him back to the house. She
gently led him into the den and helped him sit back into the large leather
chair behind the desk. She gave him a
kiss on the cheek and quietly left him alone with his memories. The den had become his favorite room, for it
still held the most links to his past.
He sat there wishing Annie would walk in and comfort him just once more.

She grew up in the heartland of America, where her life has been filled with memories and experiences that she draws from, as she writes about ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Beverly owns a unique country store on the farm she shares with her husband in central Iowa. Her children and grandchildren all live nearby and are a constant joy.
She enjoys writing, nature, antique shops, art, music and spending time with family and friends.
