About the Book

The Monarch was chosen to rule the land of Bug-A-Boos because he was so charming with his beautifully marked wings and his soothing low voice.  He was so charismatic, in fact. that the bugs overlooked his lack of ability to head such a complex society and merely shrugged off some of his ridiculous suggestions for confronting major problems, like the drought that was threatening the water supply.

Ralph the Drone, however, dared to question the wisdom of the Monarch’s recommendations and sought more realistic solutions.  When the Monarch and Donna-Bee, the Queen, ordered Ralph to cease his insubordination and he did not, Ralph the Drone was banished to the land of the fire ants.

Ralph’s banishment turns out to be fortunate for Bug-A- Boos when he overhears plans being made to conquer his beloved homeland.  However, what can he do?  He is under the threat of death if he returns to Bug-A-Boos.  At the same time, he is in increasing danger of being discovered and captured by the fire ants the longer he remains in their land.  To complicate matters further, Ralph knows where there is a water supply that could offset the drought.

About the Author

Roland “Ron” Kessler has primarily published technical, non-fiction, materials.  He has written a few fiction pieces, but has made little attempt to have them published.  The audience he wrote for was made up of his grandchildren.

One story was “The Christmas Flower” which had been included on the seasonal reading list of elementary schools where his grandchildren attended.  This was a very short story however.

“BUG-A-BOOS” is his first book length story targeted on younger children.  In fact, Ron’s grandson, Jared, showed such a continuing interest in the book that kept Mr. Kessler writing.  He dedicated “BUG-A-BOOS” to Jared because of his encouragement.

Mr. Kessler’s career was largely as a senior federal government executive.  Most of the I characters in “BUG-A-BOOS” reflect the personalities and behaviors which Mr. Kessler encountered during his federal career.
