About the Book
“Called to
missionary work at the age of 5, Peggy Grossman has had an incredible life-long
voyage of service to God. In this book,
she relates the intensely personal story of her pursuit of God’s will for her
family. You’ll read about sacrifice and
gain, strife and victory, hardships and pleasures of life as a missionary in
Africa’s varied landscapes. With surprising
drama, the author’s life unfolds in a vivid portrayal of the struggles and joys
of living with the Africans. You’ll
meet dozens of charismatic, sympathetic real-life characters and see how many
of those lives are changed with the love of Christ shown through her. You’ll also be an up-close witness of how
her life was enriched deeply and permanently because of her work with these
vibrant personalities.”
“Read about the man God used to draw Mrs. Grossman
into literacy work (after she almost killed him with simple medication, not
knowing that he couldn’t read). Find
out how a simple family decides to radically change their lives with a new
language and culture because of an inability to give directions to cross a set
of railroad tracks. Meet elderly women
who are "baby" Christians, admonishing the "old" missionary
to watch out for Satan. And see how a
simple act of kindness saves a life, and eventually a soul."
"This REAL missionary (please, just don't pinch
her -- she's not as tough as she once was) tells true-life tales that will lead
you to laugh out loud, wipe away secret tears, gasp in amazement, and sigh with
relief. It's a life like no other, and
if you haven't lived it yourself (or even if you have) you need to read this
true story of love."
About the Author
"Once pinched to see if she was 'real', Peggy
Grossman truly IS a real-life missionary with an authentic and compelling story
to tell. Her love for people and for
Christ shine through each page of her life.”
“Born in 1934, Peggy married her charming husband
Paul in 1953. Together, they have
served as missionaries for the Southern Baptist Convention in Liberia, Senegal
and Burkina Faso, West Africa for almost 30 years.
“Taught by her mother at an early age that ‘Your
life may be the only Bible that someone reads’, Mrs. Grossman has devoted her
life to teaching boys and girls, men and women how to read the Word of
God.
“Losing her sight shortly after retiring (and before
the completion of this book), Mrs. Grossman has a unique story that will fill
your heart with respect for the past, love for every moment of the present and
hope for the future."
“Paul and Peggy have four children and seven
grandchildren. They reside in
Springfield, Tennessee where they have retired - choosing to live near the many
people who joined them oversees in various volunteer positions.”
