Fire is the most powerful and dangerous of all the
natural elements. It is also the only
element that we, as human beings, can create.
The harnessing and control of fire by early man was one of the most
significant achievements of human development; but, along with the power that
comes with the knowledge of how to manipulate a natural force, there is also a
responsibility and a risk factor.
If not contained and treated with the utmost
respect, fire has the potential to devastate and destroy all that lies in its
path. It feeds off of the very air that
we breathe, and, it is driven by the wind.

in its wake, a barren, scorched wasteland rendered unfit for human habitation.
There is a comparison to be made with the natural
element of fire and the self-created flame of human ambition. Like fire, ambition is also an unstoppable
force that drives on regardless of circumstance; nothing can stand in its way
and survive. It thrives on success,
power, and sometimes greed; it also has the potential of decimating all we hold
dear, leaving behind nothing but an empty void populated only by the echoes of
broken lives and unattainable dreams.
One must never forget the responsibility of staying
in control and monitoring the intensity of the self-created flame that, at any
given moment, can turn from a spark into a blazing inferno. It is most important to remain ever vigilant
and to guard against unleashing the fire within.

About the Author
Jon Washington is a veteran of the Rock ‘n Roll
music business. Born in Rugby, England
and raised in the large industrial city of Coventry, Washington first came to
America as a part of music’s ‘British Invasion’ in 1965. Since then, he has amassed an impressive
array of credits as a singer, songwriter, musician and actor. He has recorded both as a band member and as
a solo artist with great success over the last forty years, and still records
and performs today. His experience and
insight into the fascinating, and sometimes corrupt, world of Rock ‘n Roll
music is self-evident in his book, “The Fire Within”. Adding author to his already long list of
accomplishments gives his readers the benefit of his years of experience spent
making a living in the volatile world of commercial music. Jon Washington
currently makes his home in Las Vegas, Nevada.
