About the Book
Trickle Down is a compilation of short stories and poetry by Bob
Giusto, a veteran high school teacher who has plied his trade in various
locations ranging from the heart of the South Bronx to Lakewood, Colorado in
the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
His writing reflects his many experiences and the varied voices to which
he has listened. His language may in
one piece strut to the beat of the inner city street corner, and in the next it
may sing of the prairie or a snowcapped mountain. His themes range from the senseless violence of gang life in
“Atop This Hill” to the need for each of us to lift our fellow man through
life’s difficulties in “Your Rock.” As
Walt Whitman once wrote, “I hear America singing, the varied carols I
hear.” So too does Mr. Giusto in this
collection sing from the heart of a multi-voiced America, the ever-changing,
often frustrating, yet also sublime place that he calls home.
About the Author
Bob Giusto was born and raised in Queens, New York,
and he currently teaches English at Lakewood High School in Lakewood,
Colorado. His wife and three children
make his life more than complete, but they still afford the author enough time
to sequester himself in his basement study for hours at a time so that his
words may continue to trickle down across the page. He has previously been published in Phi Delta Kappan, an
international journal for educators, Drum, a literary journal of Queens
College, CUNY, and The St. Anthony Messenger. This is his first collection of work to be published.
