For a second Bill stood in silence glaring down to the ground, his heart began racing a mile a minute. He shook his head quickly trying to clear his mind in order to comprehend what he saw. He rubbed his eyes to make them focus on a little shoe and a persons leg protruding from the tall grass. A million thoughts crossed his mind as he slowly stooped down to spread the grass apart with his hands. Fear struck the heart of this cowboy and his eyes grew as big as saucers. "Move Buster, get away, get away, move." Bill swatted him on the neck causing him to back up a few steps. He turned the reins loose not caring now if Buster bolted away. But he didn’t, he stood very close by seemingly to watch every move Bill made. "Lord Jesus, oh God, so this is what you were trying to tell me Buster." Bill prayed a fast little prayer.
"Oh God, please let this child be alright." He placed his left knee down on the grass to keep it bent down as he stepped closer and kneeled down to the child. He touched the leg and it wasn’t cold, it was warm, he moved more grass to get closer. "Oh my God, it’s a little girl Buster, it is a little girl, oh Lord what’s she doing here, what’s wrong with her." Bill lifted her hand and checked for a pulse and he did feel one ever so slightly.
"Are you alright little girl, are you alright, can you wake up?" He asked but there was no response. He tried again, still none. He shook her ever so slightly. "Can you wake up little girl, come on, can you wake up?" He tried again. "She’s unconscious, almost dead, and she’s been shot! Why would someone ---shoot----No, maybe not, someone may have cut her with a knife or---what? God, her clothes are covered with blood! Why, what happened to her---?"

About the Book

After being apprehended he was sentenced to prison only to be paroled after 18 years to pick up his evil ways after being released. A shrewd and caring father of two beautiful women lead this diabolic man into his grave in A Perfect Way To Die!!!
About the Author
Henry L. "Hank" Morrell I was born in Grant County, New Mexico in 1937 where his story takes place. His father was a rancher and carpenter. There were seven boys and three girls in the family. He attended grade school in Bayard, high school in Hurley. We moved to Big Spring, Texas in 1951, there he attended high school but entered the United States Air Force at age 16 where I finished my education. I spent twenty-two and a half years in the Air Force as a policeman and graphic artist. When I retired in 1977 my wife and two sons moved to Huntsville, Arkansas. I have one other son to a previous marriage that remained in Texas with his mother. As my wife Patricia and children traveled from place to place they listened to stories I told of growing up in New Mexico. We made up many other stories, and eventually they encouraged me to publish one called The Magic Jelly Bean. After learning that President Ronald Reagan liked jelly beans I sent him a copy of the book, which he wrote back telling us how much he enjoyed reading it. My wife Patricia passed away from cancer in 1991. I then married Mary Laughter, who encouraged the book to be written. Mary and I are both retired now and living in Huntsville, Arkansas enjoying each others company and grandkids.
