CLICK, KICK, CLICK
When all is well, so well in fact
That you joyfully click up your heels
Watch out for Life’s joke, its kick in the pants
That spins you around, makes you reel.
Pick yourself up and brush off the dust
Kick Life back with all of your might.
Show it who’s boss, as you know that you must
In a fierce raging knock-down big fight.
Then bounce back up full of zest, full of zeal
Tell Life that you’re cutting a whole new deal,
One that at least to you has appeal,
Then close it with your permanent seal!

STOP THE CLOCK
I have many things that I want yet to do
And not enough future to do them.
To explore new vistas, sensations, tastes
Sounds and emotions, ideas.
To reach and to stretch and leap over the moon
And grow and glow with the stars.
To clutch the face of that eternal clock
Hang onto it and make it stop
So I can stick more minutes upon its face
Then start it again but slow its pace.
While I read and I rhyme
And take my sweet time
And smell pretty flowers
Each precious new hour.

About the Book
Within these pages lie a myriad of insights as seen through the author’s 82-year-old eyes. Inspired by the challenges and delights with her six children and their offspring combined with her years of social work has enriched her knowledge of mankind. Blending her love of the written word with her awareness of the human condition she speaks to all parts of the whole, from frivolity and wit, to contemplative soberness. While some poems will easily turn a grin with their lighthearted rhythm and verse, others will undoubtedly evoke tears, and her exhortations will bring thoughtful reflection or perhaps a touch of ire. Each is written with equal vigor. The author's underlying theme is that life offers a multitude of choices, its paths veering in all directions, with crossroads accessible for changing course when desired. The route taken is up to you. Select a path and rejoice in the adventure.
About the Author
Irma Grams Fisher was born in Buffalo in 1921, spent 41 years in the intense heat of the Arizona desert then migrated to Denver where she and her dog, Mindy, experience all seasons – often in one day. Her career choices at age 13 were marriage and a large family or social work. She had both: six children, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren (as of this printing) and 20years as a social worker. Now in her eighth decade Irma delights in her third career as an author. Life, she notes, offers stimulating and fulfilling choices if you wish to partake of them; for as long as she’s here, she intends to do just that.
