About the Book

Gay Husbands/Straight Wives: A Mutation of Life is a self-help book for women who discover that their husbands are gay. Written by counselor Bonnie Kaye, this book is a follow-up of her first book Is He Straight? A Checklist for Women Who Wonder.  Topics that are covered include sexuality and women’s sexual esteem, the effect of the Internet, the controversy of changing a gay husband’s sexuality, the myth of bisexuality, and the mourning stages after a marriage is over. The book also has interviews with members of Kaye’s online support group members from different parts of the world, as well as interviews with two men who help counsel gay husbands who come to Kaye for help. Kaye also shares letters from both straight wives and gay husbands to share the emotional impact on both ends.

Since 1984, Bonnie Kaye has personally helped over 10,000 women learn to unravel the mystery of how they unknowingly married gay men. It is estimated that over 3 million women in this country are or have been married to men who are homosexual. Her book helps women come to a sense of closure by helping them understand the many ranges of homosexuality their husbands display.
