DEPRIVED

It’s been proven people die from lack of love,

robbed of all emotions such as gentle words and touch.

It’s like searching for acceptance like an abandoned child

looking at stone cold faces that never smile.

Those who avoid looking at you always have and always will,

as if to do so would make you feel worthwhile.

You do not know what you need to survive,

thus you have no more will to live because you’ve been deprived.

LEPROSY

There’s completely no intimacy,

absolutely no sign of love.

Friendships are far and few,

never am I touched.

Always I ask myself what makes me so undesirable,

what abomination have I done?

I desperately await an answer,

an answer never comes.

The more I reach out the more they move away,

as if getting too close wears out my welcome to stay.

All I need is human kindness,

kindness so few appreciate.

Prized like gold is affection and a genuine smile,

deeply am I yearning for some company who isn’t afraid to stay awhile.

Wilted is the generosity that goes unshared,

seldom does it surface when the recipient is prepared.

Just a little pinch of sentiment would be enough,

from someone – ANYONE!!!

Forever tarnished is my understanding of love,

since I’ve never been that close to anyone.

There’s a beautiful butterfly trapped inside of me,

waiting for positive reinforcement to release and set it free.

Only a heart so alone and empty could suffer the symptoms of leprosy.
