About the Author
Linda Derichsweiler Needles has been a teacher in southern California for the past fourteen years. Born in 1951 in Salinas, California, she grew up the eighth of nine children. Her parents worked in the Salinas Valley as laborers through her childhood. She attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana and obtained her BS degree in science. Here she met and married her husband, Ivan, who became a Navy helicopter pilot after graduating from college. As the wife of a Naval Officer, Linda was able to travel and experience the varied cultures of the world. In 1974, her first book of poetry, A Collection of Poems, was published. She is the mother of three grown children, Matthew, Ryan, and Jodie. Presently, Linda is a supervising teacher in a public home school program in the city of El Cajon, California. Her passion is teaching writing to the students in Cajon Valley Home School.
