About the Author
David B. Green was born in 1960 in the Coal Mining village of Blidworth, located deep in the heart of the “Robin Hood” county of Nottinghamshire, England. The Son of a Coal Miner and from a Coal Mining family dating back to the early nineteen hundreds. He spent his formative years trying Not to become one.
He studied English Literature, Spanish Literature, Dramatic Art & Theatre Studies in the late 1970’s and after a period resident in Amsterdam, he returned to the United Kingdom and met his wife Karen, a Nurse in the Private Sector. After a successful early career as a Senior Executive within the business sector of International Healthcare, he, together with his wife, established a Specialist Healthcare Consultancy in 1990, operating in North America, Axarquia, Spain and The United Kingdom.
After several years traveling extensively
throughout Europe, the Middle East, North and Central America, they settled in
the Andalucian region of Southern Spain, where writing gradually became more
important than business.
In March 1997 they co‑wrote “The Nigerian
Affair”, a play for radio broadcast, based upon a factitious account of events,
which actually transpired in August 1996. In August 1997, they began their
quest to obtain residency within North America.
David has compiled an account of all Film and
Theatrical Productions observed since 1976, critiqued, reviewed and graded.
This work has now extended to 12 volumes. An avid Film Buff, he collects
Memorabilia from the world of Film, TV, & Theatre and has operated since
1974 as a collector, his business known as “Plein Soleil Cinemabilia Emporium”.
Dividing their time in the mid to late 1990’s
between Malaga and Boston, Massachusetts. They are now looking to consolidate
and improve upon their lifestyle. The opening chapter in the “Phelps” series,
“32‑Red”, was written in Southern Spain and is based upon the Intriguing,
Beguiling character of “Oscar Phelps”. A character invented by Karen.
“Oscar Phelps” is a Rapscallion and Anti-Hero
in the classic mould. The novel is based principally in Spain and the United
States of America and is directed at an adult readership and audience. “32‑Red”
offers the paradox of trepidation and anxiety for the sophisticated. A Crime
Thriller of insanely stylish texture, it is mesmerically readable. David plans
to introduce the series of “Oscar Phelps” novels into the International
literary arena during the next ten years and his wish is that they be received
and accepted as worthy addition to the Crime Fiction genre which provides him
with the most pleasure and influence. The worlds created by Highsmith, Simenon,
Forsyth, Wallace & Parker.
Outside of “Oscar Phelps”. David and his wife
are determined to concentrate their efforts within the areas of Screenplays
& Radioplays.
Their ambition is to see “32-Red” adapted and produced as a motion picture. They also share an overwhelming ambition to continue to be Happy and to become Rich!
David and his family began traveling extensively throughout Continental & Mediterranean Europe and the United States in the late 1980’s and have been fortunate to live an Expatriate lifestyle since the early-mid 1990’s.
They presently reside near Victoria on Vancouver Island in Beautiful British Columbia.
Following relocation from Andalucia, Spain into North America. They have lived and worked since 1998, predominantly within Eastern Canada in the French‑Canadian province of Québec. Having made a home in North Hatley, a sleepy anachronism of a village sited on Lac Massawippi, nestled within the minority Anglophone Eastern Townships region of Canada ‑ L’Estrie, 150 kilometres South East of Montréal and 15 minutes from the Champlain Valley in the American State of Vermont. They have also had homes in Oakville (Toronto) and the Thousand Islands region of Ontario. More recently, they have enjoyed time spent resident in Baie d’Urfe on Montreal’s West Island.
David continues to travel extensively throughout all Continents of the World in connection with business.
David and Karen have seven children to whom
their literary endeavours are dedicated.
