Getting to Know You
I am a spirit -- so are you! You may picture, or visualize me as being a male in my early 50’s (that was my comfortable age), of medium build and stature and of being not too different from the average American male that is found in your country.
Please be not disconcerted that I am in spirit form -- there is not much difference between you and I, except in using the term "I have died" which is disgustingly inaccurate, as there is no such thing as dying or being dead. So I shall refer to my so-called "dying" as "passing over."
"Oh lo the spirit has fled --
Please do not refer to me as being dead,
For though you cannot see me physically --
Nevertheless -- here I be."
Now to the task at hand -- getting to know you! It is not necessary for me to know you personally, but rather for you to know yourself, or to put it more accurately for you to know yourselves. For you are made up of more than one self, more than one body, whether, you realize it or not.
It is hoped that by now you feel more comfortable in the presence of a spirit. I want you to feel that I am there with you on this adventure into discovering your spiritual self. Be not afraid. There is nothing to fear, except fear itself.
The greatest ability, and it can also be termed as a gift that God has endowed man, woman and child with, (there is no distinction here in the realm of spirit), is imagination. Without it you would have nothing in the material sense. There would be no ships, planes, automobiles, etc. Without imagination you would still be in the "Stone Age", with only nature’s materials at hand.
Now getting back to you - an individual who is certainly not in the "Stone-Age", but is in a world of plenty materially speaking, though spiritually, many people in this day and age are not as spiritually evolved as were the cave man.
The cave man, on the other hand, knew that there was a great force -- God as is most generally referred to; there are many names given, all referring to the same power.
These cave dwellers knew that this great powerful force provided them with the heat of the sun, rain for water, the fowl of the air, and animals of the earth for their meat. They had great praise for this powerful force, for within they knew they could not live without it.
There are many cultures in this day and age that are not as "civilized" as yours, but are nonetheless, much closer to their Creator in their spiritual growth.
Much literature has been written on spiritual matters; much truth, but then much confusion has been the result. It is not the purpose of this book to criticize any of these works, rather to bring a clearer understanding of just what spirituality is.
Many cringe at the word, "spiritual" for they lump together bits and pieces of varied sciences and studies and call it "spiritual." All occultism, mysticism, witchcraft, etc. are not necessarily spiritual. They may deal with all sorts of psychic phenomena, some of good report and then again, some of not such good report; then too there may be no spiritual quality whatsoever in that particular
science or work. These tend to instill fear -- fear that is not that easily erased in the poor unfortunate partaker’s consciousness. So it is very understandable as to why the word "spiritual" has brought on so much misunderstanding. Even your best dictionaries do not contain an adequate definition of the word, though the true meaning is very concise and easy to understand. Here then is given the true meaning: Spiritual - being of God (love) and of good report, for all that is good (love) is of God (love)."
