Day of renewal, celebration and hope - january 1st
A day for friends, enemies and communities
A day for new plans and old problems dismissals
Such a coincidence- that was the day of my birth
A day of such happiness that you can drown in your own beverage
A day that you can be lonely in a million crowd
A day a poor man can live lavishly
A day where a moment of silence can be so loud
Being born in a day of many events isn't quite natural
However, a day is like any other
If you transform that day into something special
Unless you already happen to be clever, are you?
So to be the first, can't guarantee you'll never be the last
Cause the first sometimes
Not necessarily, according to lies
At times, may not be the best
January 1st is my birthday, capricornian from the zodiac
My destiny: To free my dreams from the abstract

About the Book
"In the search of" is a true reflexion of my inner most thoughts and feelings. Poetically, I tried to express the many questions and struggles that I have experienced on this long journey called life. From love to friendships and from our society to personal opinions, my goal is to reach the readers on the many different aspects of us as human beings. Although this book deals with issues related to my life as young adult, the message behind each of my lyrics can be translated to any time or mood that you are (or were) going through. Like events in time, people and feelings usually fade; however, the search to find our real selves still continues. My poetry and I will age, but my purpose behind these poems will always maintain its relevance as well as its currentness. That's what I hope to accomplish every time you open this book.
About the Author
Filipe Costa is still searching. As a native from Brazil, Filipe moved to the States by himself at the age of fifteen. As a member of both basketball and track team, he won a few awards while attending Montverde Academy School in Florida. Although, he didn't extend his athletic career in college, he has found a new talent- poetry. Costa now expresses his feelings and thoughts through lyrics. As computer engineering undergraduate, Filipe finds his balance by writing his personal opinions as well as issues related to our communities. The versatility and depth that Filipe's personality has enable him to perform as well as succeed in different areas of interest of people. First as an athlete, now as a writer and eventually as an engineer, the future looks even brighter for this young man. "In the search of" is the first piece of work, but surely won't be his last. As he grows as a man, lover and friend, Filipe will gradually tell us his new discoveries from his life experiences. Filipe keeps on searching!
