THAT GLANCE

Water and Stone

From across the chasm of the ages,
A Sage once spoke to me.

His few words were so pithy
And sublime that the entire river
Of knowledge flowed within them.

For many years my stony mind stood
Like a rock of ignorance in the midst
Of this mighty Stream.

But the river flowed on,
And water has a way with stone.

Naga lovingly shares the wisdom of Vasishtha:
The world is as you see it.

Love

That which passes for
Love in the world is no
More than a transaction.

I will do this and
You will love me.

You will do that
And I will love you.

This is known
As a contract.

Observe when the
Contract is broken
How this love
Turns to hate.

Witness the former lovers
As they fight like wild dogs
Over what was joint property.

Gurudev once proclaimed:
Love is as soft as butter
And as hard as diamond.

How sublime this statement!

Love is without condition.
Love is without motive.

Yet love is the motive
Power of creation.

Love is what you struggle
To stay afloat in.

Nageshwar urges: Cease your struggle
And drown in It.

Friend, there is an unlit
Candle in your Heart.

And there are those whose
Candles burn brightly.

Seek out such a One and sit
Quietly in the blessed Light.

In due course of time the
Inevitable will occur.

The flame will jump–
One candle lighting another.

This eternal flame has lit
Untold candles, yet burns
On undiminished.

Nageshwar says: Preserve this flame
And pass it on.
