About the Book

Health care professionals, family members, friends, clergy, and volunteers have the opportunity to create an environment where nursing home residents grow as individuals and experience satisfaction with their lives. The opportunity presents itself on a daily basis through words, gestures, and acts of caring.

From a spiritual dimension residents find themselves capable of transcending physical and emotional limitations. They become empowered through spiritual practices that bless them with a sense of connection to their God.

In Nursing Home Resident Satisfaction – A Spiritual Connection, Dr. Urbanski offers a process that leads to the creation of such an environment. She provides a comprehensive review of the current literature on successful aging and the role spirituality plays in increasing quality of life. She shares study findings on the activities and the programs most meaningful to residents, especially those that encourage residents to spend more time interacting with others and giving of themselves. The last chapter of the book is filled with resources for spiritual activities, religious programs, and community interaction.

This book is designed for health care professionals, clergy, volunteers, and family members who desire to make a difference in the lives of nursing home residents.
