About the Book

This is a story about a ship.  A ship, that went off to war during one of America's greatest trials; the early days of World War II, when the Axis Powers were winning on all fronts.  It is also a story about two families: the Sullivan's and the Rogers Brothers, both families from different parts of the United States.   The story traces the early years of the families until December 7th, 1941.  Actually it is a larger story of how young men answered their countries call.

The ship, USS Juneau CL52, saw action in the Atlantic escorting and protecting convoys from German U-boats.   Its' finest days were in the South Pacific during the Solomon Island campaign.

Many of the events were taken from the Juneau's original deck logs.

About the Author

After retiring from the United States Navy with twenty-two years of service in 1989 he earned his BS in Vocational Education.  Since retirement he has worked in both Health benefits and Financial Services.  During his leisure time Robert writes short stories, and operates his own part time calligraphy business.  Robert developed an interest in writing after taking a creative writing course while earning his degree.  He has a deep respect for the generation of men and woman that grew up during the depression era, having nothing, they still rallied behind their country after Pearl Harbor.

Like Juneau, which started off as a short story, Robert is presently working on another historical story taking place during the Middle Ages.

Robert lives in Monroe Township, New Jersey with his wife Kathleen, his children Robert, Coleen, Michael and their first grand child Julie Marie.
