About the Book

In the end, all you are is a car accident with no impact. You are a pile of mangled, twisted pieces that are difficult to glue back together. In the end, you will not be one, self-contained unit. You will reside in flashes of memory, old photographs and the sounds that surround your voice. When sifting through the wreckage, you will find the human remains scattered everywhere like ash. In the end, all you are is human. After all your upgrades, alterations and justifications – you will still be the same. The human remains intact no matter what happens or how much you may think you have changed or progressed. In the end you will be buried diamonds waiting to be loved.

About the Author

The Human Remains is Joseph’s first full-length collection of poems. The majority of The Human Remains was written while Joseph lived in Prague and traveled around Europe. A number of his poems have appeared in journals and magazines around the country (Facets, Poetry Motel, Eclipse, Stray Dog, Red River Review).

Currently, Joseph Kerschbaum lives in Bloomington, Indiana where he is working on his second manuscript, participating in poetry slams around the region and assembling his materials in order to apply to MFA programs in the fall and spring.
