About the Book

if it rhymes, that’s fine;
if it skips and hops, alliterates
or not, if it leaves spaces
or invisible question marks,
that’s okay, too, because
all it has to be is you

from "Writing Poetry"

In the vein of the great contemporary poets, Sont tells the story of a generation. Thunder Road brims with verse as powerful as the title of this remarkable collection. These are not pretty poems. Rather they are full of the life and energy of an artistic coming of age. Her themes span and invite youth of all generations and her poems move with sensual images and direct narrative. Her stories explore the self—the poet’s and ours—and the soul of the contemporary mankind. The life of Thunder Road, however, comes not just from stark introversion, but from the surprise appearances of humor and some delightful literary metacognition. This is a volume of poems to be read and long remembered.
