About the Book

A Reclusive Ghost In The Room - Robert thought he would settle down in Little Rock for a new life. But when he began renting a third-floor bedroom in the old Victorian house, he did not realize that the room was haunted by the ghost of a deaf boy. Why did the deaf boy’s ghost haunt the room? You’ll find out!

Henrietta, the Old Deaf Lady - A weary traveler is kindly given shelter from a storm. But after the traveler leaves the next day, he learns something unbelievable about Henrietta, the Old Deaf Lady, that makes him vow never to return!

A Girl in Room 24 - This is one of several legends the author collected from New England Deaf storytellers. Read this story and see what terrible tragedy happens when a deaf girl’s father forbids her to associate with the Deaf world.

The Ghost Man in the Lake - When Phillip went fishing at the lake, he thought he had hooked a big fish, but he was wrong! He caught “the ghost man in the lake.” Then the ghost man began to move and wanted to get revenge against the boy. Why was the ghost man in the lake? You better read this possibly-true legend from the South!

The Old Deaf Aunt’s House - One of the most unique stories James has collected. A father and his daughter went into an abandoned house to sleep while a bad storm raged over the Southwest. During the night, the daughter was awakened by a small animal that jumped onto the bed and spoke to the girl. What did the small animal want to tell the two visitors about the Old Deaf Aunt’s House? Read this story and find out!
