OH SPIRIT OF EXISTENCE

Eternal Love
Just as God made you, God also made me
yet you always question my color, race, or sexuality
because you think me different, by the standards you have set
even though in truth, our spirits have never met.
You do not want to see me, you hate the way I talk.
My lifestyle makes you angry, even the way I walk.
It's as though the life I'm living is the one you're living too.
And I must follow in your way, so tell me what to do.
Hate another race for their religion, or the color of their skin.
Tell them how their life is only one of shame, sex, and sin.
Keep a distance from all unlike you, never touch a different human soul.
Use prejudice and bigotry, also force, for your selfish mind control.
Look down upon all creatures that don't live exactly in your sight.
Make your excuses, to rationalize you're right.
I'm sorry my friend, I can't share in the vision you see.
In truth I think it sad and lonely.
So I'll just live the life that's me, to love another from my heart
regardless of their religion, race, color, or sex
remembering words read to me from most religious texts.
God did so love the world, but the world could not understand
that if you take away the human flesh from women and from man
underneath all of what you think you really see,
lies the spirit of God, loving each creature and all humanity.
So even though our opinions seem to be keeping us apart
love will conquer all, that's the feeling in my heart.
I will love you even though you can never in your heart love me
because in my heart I love God, and one day you will truly see
that spirit to spirit we travel through the heavens up above.
NO RACE, NO SEX, NO COLOR, OR RELIGION. Just pure light filled with God's eternal Love.
Dream of Long Ago
In the quiet shimmering solitude of a universal place before time was, a voyager went to rest. As the complexities of the infinite slowly began to disappear from his mind's eye, he began to fall asleep and dream. The vision that lay before him was of solitude and peace. The realm in which he found himself was created from a magical cauldron of beauty and love. The inhabitants of this world were made from the essence of the very fire of the stars. Their spirits were permeated with the celestial light that bore them into existence. These eternal spirits lived to give praise to all that was good. Their souls were created with the lifeblood of kindness, compassion, charity, and faith. As their true purpose unfolded before them, they fell to their knees in mindful prayer and heartfelt supplication. For in the nature of their deeper existence they truly realized the wonderful blessing which creation had bestowed upon them. Happiness and love radiated throughout the land. The voyager began to awake from his eternal slumber. With a thunder and roar he spoke, "LET THEIR BE LIGHT!"

About the Book
In Spirit Earth, Richard Kydd's second collection of poems, the author continues to inspire deep-seated emotions and deal with a wide range of human experience.
The theme of spiritual growth and awareness, touched on in his first book, Lost in the Garden of Remembrance, is emphasized more strongly here. He also accentuates the importance of family relationships.
Richard expresses great understanding for the human condition, the struggle to accept pain and loss. He is deeply saddened by the harm done by prejudice, injustice, and greed, and pleads for understanding and compassion between human beings.
Yet in the midst of these serious concerns is a strong thread of happiness and delight with the beautiful things of life. Some of his poems have a musical, dancing element.
Although the author is solidly grounded in the issues of everyday life and the physical world, he is capable of a mystical vision that ultimately absorbs and resolves man's suffering and confusion, in the all-encompassing tenderness of a God whose chief attribute is love.
Underlying all of Richard's work is the consistent spiritual theme that love is the answer to man's suffering.
About the Author
Richard D. Kydd Jr.was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Through the cultural diversity of his youth he came to appreciate the beauty of the spoken word. Although he had an early love of poetry, it was only later in his life he began to write. He currently resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with his wife Erna and his children.
