THE HOLY QUR'AN SURA 7 "THE HEIGHTS" AYAT 10-31 IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL. 10. IT IS WE WHO HAVE PLACED YOU WITH AUTHORITY ON THE EARTH, AND PROVIDED YOU THEREIN WITH MEANS FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF YOURLIFE: SMALL ARE THE THANKS THAT YE GIVE! 11. IT IS WE WHO CREATED YOU AND GAVE YOU SHAPE; THEN WE BADE THE ANGELS BOW DOWN TO ADAM, AND THEY BOWED DOWN; NOT SO IBLIS; HE REFUSED TO BE OF THOSE WHO BOW DOWN. 12. (ALLAH) SAID: "WHAT PREVENTED THEE FROM BOWING DOWN WHEN I COMMANDED THEE ?" HE SAID: "I AM BETTER THAN HE : THOU DIDST CREATE ME FROM FIRE, AND HIM FROM CLAY." 13. (ALLAH) SAID: "GET THEE DOWN FROM THIS: IT IS NOT FOR THEE TO BE ARROGANT HERE: GET OUT, FOR THOU ART OF THE MEANEST (OF CREATURES)." 14. HE SAID: "GIVE ME RESPITE TILL THE DAY THEY ARE RAISED UP." 15. (ALLAH) SAID: "BE THOU AMONG THOSE WHO HAVE RESPITE." 16. HE SAID; "BECAUSE THOU HAST THROWN ME OUT OF THE WAY, LO ! I WILL LIE IN WAIT FOR THEM ON THY STRAIGHT WAY:
18. (ALLAH) SAID: "GET OUT FROM THIS, DISGRACED AND EXPELLED. IF ANY OF THEM FOLLOW THEE,- HELL WILL I FILL WITH YOU ALL.
19. "O ADAM ! DWELL THOU AND THY WIFE IN THE GARDEN, AND ENJOY (ITS GOOD THINGS) AS YE WISH: BUT APPROACH NOT THIS TREE, OR YE RUN INTO HARM AND TRANSGRESSION."
20. THEN BEGAN SATAN TO WHISPER SUGGESTIONS TO THEM, BRINGING OPENLY BEFORE THEIR MINDS ALL THEIR SHAME THAT WAS HIDDEN FROM THEM (BEFORE): HE SAID: "YOUR LORD ONLY FORBADE YOU THIS TREE, LEST YE SHOULD BECOME ANGELS OR SUCH BEINGS AS LIVE FOR EVER."
21. AND HE SWORE TO THEM BOTH, THAT HE WAS THEIR SINCERE ADVISER.
22. SO BY DECEIT HE BROUGHT ABOUT THEIR FALL: WHEN THEY TASTED OF THE TREE, THEIR SHAME BECAME MANIFEST TO THEM, AND THEY BEGAN TO SEW TOGETHER THE LEAVES OF THE GARDEN OVER THEIR BODIES. AND THEIR LORD CALLED UNTO THEM: "DID I NOT FORBID YOU THAT TREE, AND TELL YOU THAT SATAN WAS AN AVOWED ENEMY UNTO YOU ?"
23. THEY SAID: "OUR LORD ! WE HAVE WRONGED OUR OWN SOULS: IF THOU FORGIVE US NOT AND BESTOW NOT UPON US THY MERCY, WE SHALL CERTAINLY BE LOST."
24. (ALLAH) SAID: "GET YE DOWN, WITH ENMITY BETWEEN YOURSELVES. ON EARTH WILL BE YOUR DWELLING-PLACE AND YOUR MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD,-FOR A TIME."
- HE SAID: "THEREIN SHALL YE LIVE, AND THEREIN SHALL YE DIE; BUT FROM IT SHALL YE BE TAKEN OUT (AT LAST)."
26. O YE CHILDREN OF ADAM ! WE HAVE BESTOWED RAIMENT UPON YOU TO COVER YOUR SHAME, AS WELL AS TO BE AN ADORNMENT TO YOU. BUT THE RAIMENT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,- THAT IS THE BEST. SUCH ARE AMONG THE SIGNS OF ALLAH, THAT THEY MAY RECEIVE ADMONITION !
27. O YE CHILDREN OF ADAM ! LET NOT SATAN SEDUCE YOU, IN THE SAME MANNER AS HE GOT YOUR PARENTS OUT OF THE GARDEN, STRIPPING THEM OF THEIR RAIMENT, TO EXPOSE THEIR SHAME: FOR HE AND HIS TRIBE WATCH YOU FROM A POSITION WHERE YE CANNOT SEE THEM: WE MADE THE EVIL ONES FRIENDS (ONLY) TO THOSE WITHOUT FAITH.
28. WHEN THEY DO AUGHT THAT IS SHAMEFUL, THEY SAY: "WE FOUND OUR FATHERS DOING SO"; AND "GOD COMMANDED US THUS": SAY: "NAY, ALLAH NEVER COMMANDS WHAT IS SHAMEFUL: DO YE SAY OF ALLAH WHAT YE KNOW NOT ?"
29. SAY: "MY LORD HATH COMMANDED JUSTICE; AND THAT YE SET YOUR WHOLE SELVES (TO HIM) AT EVERY TIME AND PLACE OF PRAYER, AND CALL UPON HIM, MAKING YOUR DEVOTION SINCERE AS IN HIS SIGHT: SUCH AS HE CREATED YOU IN THE BEGINNING, SO SHALL YE RETURN."
30. SOME HE HATH GUIDED: OTHERS HAVE (BY THEIR CHOICE) DESERVED THE LOSS OF THEIR WAY; IN THAT THEY TOOK THE EVIL ONES, IN PREFERENCE TO ALLAH, FOR THEIR FRIENDS AND PROTECTORS, AND THINK THAT THEY RECEIVE GUIDANCE.
- O CHILDREN OF ADAM! WEAR YOUR BEAUTIFUL APPAREL AT EVERY TIME AND PLACE OF PRAYER: EAT AND DRINK : BUT WASTE NOT BY EXCESS, FOR ALLAH LOVETH NOT THE WASTERS.
AFTER READING SURA 7 WE LEARN OF A SPIRIT RACE THAT EXISTED BEFORE THE CREATION OF MAN. THIS UNSEEN SPIRIT RACE CONSIST OF TWO BEINGS. 1.THE ANGELS AND 2.THE JINNS OR SPIRITS. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO. THE ANGELS ARE SAID TO BE CREATED FROM PURE LIGHT AND THEY OBEY ALLAH'S EVERY COMMAND.
SURA 16 AYAT 49-50 READS: 49.AND TO ALLAH DOTH OBEISANCE ALL THAT IS IN THE HEAVENS AND ON EARTH, WHETHER MOVING (LIVING) CREATURES OR THE ANGELS: FOR NONE ARE ARROGANT (BEFORE THEIR LORD). 50. THEY ALL REVERE THEIR LORD, HIGH ABOVE THEM, AND THEY DO ALL THAT THEY ARE COMMANDED.
NOW LET US LOOK AT THE JINNS OR SPIRITS. THE OUR'AN SAYS IN SURA 15 AYAT 27: AND THE JINN RACE, WE HAD CREATED BEFORE, FROM THE FIRE OF A SCORCHING WIND." IT IS ALSO STATED THAT THE JINNS WERE CREATED WITH FIRE FREE OF SMOKE. IT IS SAID BY MANY THAT SATAN WAS A ANGEL.
THE QUR'AN CLEARLY PROVES THAT HE WAS NOT AN ANGEL BUT, HE WAS IN THE COMPANY OF THE ANGELS.
SURA 18 AYAT 50 SAYS: BEHOLD! WE SAID TO THE ANGELS,"BOW DOWN TO ADAM": THEY BOWED DOWN EXCEPT IBLIS. HE WAS ONE OF THE JINNS, AND HE BROKE THE COMMAND OF HIS LORD. WILL YE THEN TAKE HIM AND HIS PROGENY AS PROTECTORS RATHER THAN ME? AND THEY ARE ENEMIES TO YOU! EVIL WOULD BE THE EXCHANGE FOR THE WRONG-DOERS!
IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANGELS AND THE JINNS. THE ANGELS OBEY ALLAH'S EVERY COMMAND AND THE JINNS CLEARLY WERE GIVEN CHOICE AS WAS MANKIND. IF SATAN WAS AN ANGEL HE COULD NOT HAVE REFUSED ALLAH'S COMMAND.
SURA 34 AYAT 40-41 SAYS: ONE DAY HE WILL GATHER THEM ALL TOGETHER, AND SAY TO THE ANGELS, "WAS IT YOU THAT THESE MEN USED TO WORSHIP ?" 41.THEY WILL SAY,"GLORY TO THEE! OUR (TIE) IS WITH THEE- AS PROTECTOR -NOT WITH THEM. NAY, BUT THEY WORSHIPPED THE JINNS: MOST OF THEM BELIEVED IN THEM."
THIS BRINGS US NOW TO VIEW MAN. WHY WAS MAN CREATED? SOME READERS I AM SURE WANT A DETAILED ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION. THE QUR'AN GIVES SOME ANSWERS TO THIS QUESTION BUT, THE DETAILED ANSWER I BELIEVE REST WITH ALLAH.
SURA 2 AYAT 30 SAYS: BEHOLD, THY LORD SAID TO THE ANGELS: I WILL CREATE A VICEGERENT ON THE EARTH."
VICEGERENT MEANS DEPUTY OF A RULER OR SUPREME HEAD, OF OR WITH DELEGATED POWERS. SO WE FIND THAT MAN WAS CREATED TO GOVERN THE EARTH. THERE IS ALSO INFORMATION IN THE QUR'AN THAT SUGGEST THAT ALLAH WAS PROVING TO THE ANGELS AS WELL AS THE JINNS THAT HE KNEW THE SECRETS OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, AND WHAT THEY REVEAL AND WHAT THEY CONCEALED.
SURA 2 AND THE LAST LINE OF AYAT 30-33 SAYS: HE SAID: "I KNOW WHAT YE KNOW NOT." 31.AND HE TAUGHT ADAM THE NATURE OF ALL THINGS; THEN HE PLACED THEM BEFORE THE ANGELS, AND SAID: "TELL ME THE NATURE OF THESE IF YE ARE RIGHT." 32.THEY SAID:"GLORY TO THE: OF KNOWLEDGE WE HAVE NONE, SAVE WHAT THOU HAST TAUGHT US: IN TRUTH IT IS THOU WHO ART PERFECT IN KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM." 33.HE SAID: "O ADAM ! About the Book
First I must give praise and thanks to Allah for without his guidance I would be lost. Second, I give praise and respect to the planter of my physical being, my father Nassardin Abdullah and to the womb that bore me, my mother Sayeeda Abdullah and also to her mother that bore her Doris Garrett, my grandmother who has been there for us since the beginning of my knowledge of her. I give thanks to Allah for my wife Tanya and my sons Kareem Ali, Raheem Hameed,Tariq Jalil and also my stepdaughter Natisha Reid who I pray for each time I prostrate myself to Allah. I pray, "O Allah guide and protect my family for you are the best to guide and protect, and lead them to yourself and make me a good example for them. May the peace and blessing of Allah be with all my brothers and sisters on this day until the hereafter. Sura 6 Ayat 32 says: What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand? My purpose for writing this book is to help those searching for their purpose and reason for existence in this life on this earth. By The use of the holy Qur'an I pray to Allah that this will be achieved. Here is a verse of this great book. Sura 3 Ayat 7 says: He it is who has sent down to thee the book: in it are verses My plan is this, to bring the basic message in the Qur'an to the surface of this book without most of the allegorical parts so that the seeker can grasp the message of Allah easier but also develop a hunger for the knowledge in the great book of enlightenment. The seeker of Allah's message when reading this book should also have the Qur'an with them to verify that I am correct, for I am just a man and Allah knows best. May the peace and blessing of Allah be with you.
Basic or fundamental (of established meaning);
They are the foundation of the book: others are allegorical.
But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part
Thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching
For its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden
Meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded
In knowledge say: "we believe in the book; the whole of it
Is from our lord: "and none will grasp the message except
Men of understanding.
About the Author
Gamel Abdullah, born Gamel Addin Ibn Abdullah, birthed to the world on September 24, 1960 in the heart of north Philadelphia just one block from the famous Robin Hood Dell. Born to Nassardin and Sayeeda Abdullah who raised me under the guidance of Allah in Islam. I credit them for being one of the many trailblazers to introduce Islam to the Philadelphia area in the 1960s. In 1965, all of my classmates and children in my neighborhood thought that I had a strange name. They had never heard of such a name. Jane, Billy, Bobby and Susan were very common names during that time of my life. There were no African or Arabic names being used during that time. My father taught me that my name had meaning, a foundation, culture and spirit. The year is 1999 and 80% percent of my children's class mates or friends have African or Arabic names and Islam is practiced by families all over the United States, as well as the world. Thank you Baba and mom, you made the right choice for us. Praise be to Allah, for without him we would be lost. "Is the blind equal to the seeing?" This very message can help to cure the problems of the sinful Individual and unite the family once again and lead us all to eternal life if it's Allah's will.
