The other definition of scrappy is being full of a fighting spirit. This is the positive aspect of being a scrapper. Most people think Scott got the name by the way he played on the basketball court. He worked with great effort at his ball handling skills. He practiced his outside shooting. Scott and his friend Peter played a game of P.I.G. one time that took about an hour and a half. Neither one of them missed many shots. That fighting spirit in Scott made him want to win and caused him to learn to get better at what he did so the possibility of winning would be greater. Occasionally, he would annihilate the opposition just for fun. Peter and Scott used to gang up on Scott’s sister Julie when they played Risk. They would both attack her until she was eliminated. Then they would wonder why she cried. In a game of chess with his brother-in-law, Scott would take every one of his pieces before he would get him in checkmate.

About the Book
This biography of Scrappy by his "dad' is not another "sob story" book. Instead, it's a book about victory and triumph. Although the low and sad parts of Scott's life are included, as they should be, this book shows how he rises above those valley experiences and how others around him are lifted up also.
About the Author
The author has experience in writing materials for sermons, devotionals, and subjects of inspiration. He draws upon his many years of service as a Sunday School superintendent. His family background includes growing up in a Christian family consisting of dad and mom and six boys. He also raised, with his wife, three children of his own to adulthood. Being close to his family has helped the author during the events that took place which led and inspired him to write this book.
