About the Book

Gift of Expressions is a compilation of poetry and a couple of short stories. It is one person’s heartfelt cries of life’s ups and downs poetically written. It is creative expressions of personal experiences and opinions of the author. The poems were written over a period of twenty-three years and were originally a way for the author to vent and express her hidden feelings. Through inspiration and encouragement, this book is meant to reach out to all that have suppressed emotions – to reveal and bring to the surface those hidden disappointments so that a healing process may take place. Most importantly, it is a way to share Jesus Christ in a real, down-to-earth and entertaining way.

About the Author

Debra Ann Baker was born a twin in the city of Chicago forty-three years ago. Her parents, Clara and James Hodges had seven children of which she and her twin are the youngest. Her mother died when she was only one year old, leaving her father to raise five (5) girls and two (2) boys alone. She has three (3) children and four (4) grandchildren. She started writing at the age of twenty. Writing is a source of relief as well as a pleasure to her. Though she enjoys writing, most of what she writes is from personal experiences and her passions. She proclaims Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and serves at Global Evangelistic Ministries in the music and nursing home ministry. While her greatest desire is to serve and worship God, she wants to reach out to the world through her words to let them know that Jesus Christ is alive and they are loved.
