About the Book
A nostalgic look at days when-- making a living demanded ingenuity as well as hard work; life, devoid of today's electronic media bombardment, was simple; and entertainment was derived from simple pleasures; family life was close-knit and relationships cherished; simple gifts were appreciated; parents practiced discipline; the Generation Gap had not been discovered; education was taken seriously; friendships endured; moral values were taught at home; value was placed on handmade things; authority was respected; reading was not a lost art; consciences were heeded.
About the Author
A retired language teacher, Anita Hamilton lives in Searcy, an anything-but-sleepy university town in her native Arkansas. She and her late husband, Ike, have led groups of college students on mission trips to such diverse places as Russia, Hungary, Kenya, South America and Cuba. In between visits to her two children, Anita serves on the missions, Spanish and jail ministries with her church.
Ms. Hamilton has published two other books: Entre Hermanas, a Spanish Bible study for Christian women, which she has also translated into English as Between Sisters; and Flexibility, Flexibility, Flexibility, a tongue-in-cheek look at mission work. With her husband, an Air Force fighter pilot-cum-missionary, she co-authored How to Get to Heaven, which has been published in five languages.
Among Anita's interests are writing children's stories and puppet scripts, researching her genealogy, reading and watching mysteries, working crossword puzzles and knitting for her eight grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.
