About the Book

I dedicate this book to all that like to slip away to a life past. I join the rest of the lighthouse children who are becoming as few as the keepers themselves. Find out what it was like growing up around the coastal light stations of the Pacific coast during the Great Depression and during World War II, in a time when the lighthouse keeper risked his life to save hapless victims of the indomitable sea. Come face to face with the awesome powers of nature on the untamed shores of secluded islands. At the same time visualize the natural beauty of this land in the ocean mist. Relive the diverse range of emotions that touched the hearts of the lighthouse children: from excitement to fear; wonderment and awe to suspense and tragedy; thrill, joy and fascination to gloom, surprise and humor. With each turn of the page, you will be left hanging in suspense until you find out the outcome of each unique adventure that changes with almost every paragraph. Enjoy the adventures of Ila and Allen in the "Children of the Lighthouse."

About the Author

Mrs. Lee has retired on beautiful Bainbridge Island, Washington, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound region. A day’s trip in any direction will take her to the Olympic Mountains or the Pacific Coast or the Cascades, Mount Rainier or Northwest Trek – a reserve of the wild animals of the Northwest.

Mrs. Lee grew up along the coast of Oregon and the San Juan Islands of Washington as a child of a lighthouse keeper during the Great Depression and during World War II. Her experiences growing up around the different light stations are unique, and are captured in time in this book, Children of the Lighthouse.
