About the Book

This is the story of Mary (Miryam in Aramaic, her native language), the mother of Jesus. It begins with her conceiving the child (The Annunciation), and ends with the end of her time on earth (The Assumption and Coronation). This work is meditation based on scripture that illustrates how things actually might have happened. Some characters appear which are non- scriptural, and some scriptural characters are developed beyond what is said about them in scripture, for example Simon of Cyrene and Anna the prophetess.

This book lets the reader see this story as thoroughly human involving real people. It traces the early development of Christianity and depicts the very active roles played by Mary and many other women in the beginning days of the Church. It is an inspirational work which is a joy to read and can also be used as a basis for personal meditation. It ends with a soliloquy by Miryam which reviews the past of Christianity, and makes some predictions about its future!
