FIRE CAKES
"The Bone Yard" is a sentimental piece on ships sent to the breakers. There are also, unusually in this day and age, two historical pieces, "Cold Men Starving," about the suffering Continental Army, and an epic of over 900 lines on the greatest naval battle ever fought, the "Battle for Leyte Gulf."
About the Author
The author was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Chatham, New Jersey. He attended Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University) Chester, Pennsylvania. He spent two summers on merchant ships, working as a crew messman and as a wiper in the engine room. After college, he served a four-year hitch in the U.S. Navy as a crash crewman, a plane captain and aviation electronics repairman. Later, he served as a volunteer in the Long Hill (Chatham Township), Mount Tabor (Parsippany) and Madison New Jersey Fire Departments. The father of Krista Lukis, Alec, John and Lara, he is an insurance underwriter by profession and now resides in Marlton, NJ. 1st. Books Library has published two of his previous books, NEVER AGAIN!, a novel, and SWAN TALES, a book of short stories.
