About the Book

The book begins with the immigration of both parents and the difficulties they encountered. Language was the biggest barrier.

It contains short stories, both tragic and happy. It details the raising of seven children on a tiny island called "the Patch". Quips and quotes are written in Polish.

The book details growing up with happy memories of my beloved father Ta and frugal Ma, and happy adventures with friends from the Patch.

Included are events that happened before my time that such as the Depression. Accounts of World War II are included, telling of brothers and relatives in the service. After the war my personal life episodes to the present time.


About the Author

The author is first generation Polish and speaks fluently. She is the youngest of seven children. She has participated in many church functions growing up and is still very active. She belongs to the Polish Women’s Alliance of America and is president of group 458. She keeps the Polish traditions and customs, has been to Poland, and loves to sing and dance. The author taught conversation Polish in a very informal class. She has many interests, is an avid gardener, paints, and plays the organ. A retired hairdresser of many years has decided to write her memoirs for the benefit of her son.
