It was eight o’clock p.m. when Rachel excused herself from the table to go in and freshen her make-up. Her dinner was excellent and it was so much fun being here with her sister and her other best friends. She looked ravishing in her midnight blue, spaghetti strapped slip over dress. It was just about the same color as her eyes and adding more to her beauty was her hair gracefully coming down over her shoulders with long wisps framing her beautiful face. For the first time in ages she was definitely noticing a guy that was standing at the bar. When she returned to her table she quickly glanced his way again and there he was looking straight at her at which time her throat dropped directly into her stomach. Who was he? Rachel wondered, not hardly being able to keep her eyes off him. He’s never been in here before or she definitely would have remembered him because he was one of the most attractive, charismatic men she had ever seen. It was an instant attraction for her and she was having a difficult time handling it. He looked casually over at her again and she pretended not to notice but she did know that her stomach was full of butterflies and wondered how could a man she didn’t even know make her feel so unnerved. He nodded his head just slightly and raised his drink to his lips all the while never taking his eyes off her and, lowering his glass back down to the bar, smiled ever so sexy at her. Rachel was starting to get fidgety, not at all like her, but this guy was something else. She turned to talk with Claire but her mind was definitely somewhere else and Claire finally had to comment on it. "Rachel, did you listen to a word I just said? What the hell is so interesting up at the bar anyway?" Claire asked, looking over her shoulder to see for herself what had grabbed Rachel’s attention so badly. "Elan," Claire almost shouted, getting up from the table to go greet the handsome stranger at the bar. Rachel tried not to stare as Claire and he hugged and exchanged greetings obviously thrilled to see each other again. Where in the world was she hiding him all these years, Rachel wondered. and why hadn’t she ever heard her even talk about him before?

About the Author
J. E. Bredice was born and raised in a small community in the Midwest. Her lifelong love of writing has produced many beautiful and sometimes humorous poems and verses, which she also plans on publishing in the future. Her first novel, That Night At Verries, takes place in Boston. She loves that part of the country and has visited twice on happy occasions and once a sad time when she left a dear friend there to start his new life and had to return to the Midwest without him. She has graduated and since then has taken many more advanced classes in the field of Cosmetology and currently works as a stylist part time. The publication of her novel is a dream come true and she is now considering a second one involving the life of one of the characters in her first book.
