A Life For Me God Lives First Born Child
What can I do with my life,
Now the kids are gone?
Can I still be productive,
Or stay home on the phone?
Do I stand up and move on,
Or do I lye down and cry?
Maybe I’ll give life,
One more final try.
So many things I can do,
Write a poem for mother,
One for father, too.
As we all are gifted,
In some kind of way,
Maybe I’ll start my life,
All over again today.
Do a deed for the young,
And even for the old.
I can have a new life,
Even watch it unfold.
Just never give up hope,
Try and you will see,
If there’s a life for everyone,
There’s surely a life for me.
How could we ever doubt,
There is a living God,
When all the facts are in,
And the evidence is hard?
Hard because without Him,
There could never be,
No trees in the land,
Or water in the sea.
God made the days,
And he made the nights, too.
He made everything necessary,
For me and for you,
To live a wonderful life,
In this world today.
All we need to do,
Is trust God and pray.
My first born child
Was without a doubt,
Perfect in every way.
Astounded by her presence,
As I watched her day by day.
So tiny, yet so strong,
She was a beautiful sight to see,
A superstar in every way,
Made especially, just for me.
What did I do to deserve her?
She came from God above.
She was my very own,
Snow-white lily dove.
She depended on me solely
For her daily care,
For all her food to eat,
Even clothes to wear.
Dear Lord, let me give her,
All the love she needs,
Especially spiritual guidance,
And I did indeed,
Give her all the care,
A mother was required,
To shed upon her young,
As God above desired.

About the Author
Dorothy Hall- Ramey, born February 28, 1951, hails from a small town in the red -piney hills of northern Louisiana, called Homer. She is the fifth of eight children. She is a divorced mother of three: Christiana, Cne', and Chauncey. She is also the grandmother of three: Keymon, Arrnani, and Mayah. Dorothy is a very warm, spiritual, and caring person, who has always acknowledged God first in her life. She still attends the little Baptist church she grew up in, and serves as adult Sunday school teacher. Though Dorothy is very active in church, she is most recognized for her gift of teaching. Her special interests are reading, writing, gardening, and cooking. For the last fourteen years Dorothy has been employed as a correctional officer, but always finds time to read and write. In August 2001, she graduated from the Institute of Children's Literature. As a result of her studies, she has completed several children's books, which she will soon publish. Dorothy believes that we are all here in this life for a reason. Our mission, should we discover it, should be exercised to the fullest to glorify God.
