THE SCORPIO, THE CAPRICORN, FAT SONNY AND THE BLACK CON-MEN
The handsome masculine figure with white skin, that appears to have a sun tan undresses in the shabby old room of the almost ready to be condemned hotel in the 14th and U Street area of Washington, D.C., in downtown Northwest. From appearances he could be Italian, Jewish, German, Arab or Latin by his dark black wavy-curly hair and neatly trimmed beard. He's a by-product of America's melting pot. He stands a little over six feet tall and weighs about 185-190 pounds and looks like he's an athlete. He counts out a bankroll of about three thousand dollars and he smiles to himself confidently. He strolls across the room into the shower out of sight and to the tingling of hot water oozing down his back. His mind drifts off into the United States Government officiousness of his plan to land a teletype operator job or work with computers. He envisions what the future will bring him in the unfamiliar city he has just arrived in, not knowing any person or having any relative here. He feels secure knowing that he has a nest egg of about three thousand dollars to carry him through an anticipated lengthy wait for government red tape to unravel. He recalls his hitch in the United States Air Force, with awareness of the knowledge, skills, adventure and experience that it has given him in his young life of twenty-two years.
Meanwhile, the hotel door eases open. A person tiptoes over and picks up two suitcases on the floor and tiptoes out the door quietly and disappears, undetected. Suddenly, Dee comes out of his trance to a strange intuition that something is wrong. Instinctively, he rushes out the shower to discover that his property is missing with his suitcases containing his life-long valuables. He notices they left his pants, sport coat, underwear and shoes that were hanging near the shower within his view. His heart starts to pound heavily as he runs out into the hallway in the nude. The halls are empty. He retraces his steps, quickly dresses and races downstairs. Standing around the lobby is two fashionably clothed, sexy looking Black ladies and their flamboyantly dressed Black pimp.
Dee goes up to the desk and says, "I've just been robbed of my suitcases and all of my money."
The nice looking White sissy working the desk, who is also the hotel manager says, "That's no surprise in this neighborhood. You should have had the chain on and the door locked."
Dee replies, "It was locked and I was in the shower. They had to come down this way in the last ten minutes."
One of the girls says with a smile, "No one came down since we been here."
The pimp says, "Did you check the back way out?"
The sissy at the desk comments, "You can't blame us. We have that big sign posted up there on the wall. 'Not responsible for any items lost or stolen.' There are keys lost or stolen or missing to rooms all the time and somebody must have a key or you didn't lock the door or put the safety latch on for security."
The sissy looks at the bulge in Dee's pants and remarks, "You're ruined!"
"What are you doing staying in this place for anyway, White boy? You know you are subject to get ripped off. You ain't tricking!" remarks one of the Black girls.
Her false assessment hits Dee as if stuck by a safety pin. "I'm not White! Sweet Thing! My mother is Black and my father is White. And I'm proud of it, too. So you can freeze that jive, Sweet Thing!"
Dee has become accustomed to this type of reaction by strangers, especially from Blacks, who by appearance think he is White. Dee does not try to pass for White and is not ashamed of his Black origin. It makes him Negro tough, but he is not quick- tempered or belligerent and very easy to get along with. He makes friends very easily and talks and acts Black. If you get down wrong with him, you have big trouble; you find out the hard way that he is indeed a Niggar!
Dee looks despaired; all of a sudden his future looks dim. He has no friends, money or job and is in a strange city.
The sissy, Rhonda Truelove, by the sign on the desk, says, "Mister Stinger, your time is up at one p.m. today. Are you planning to stay another day?"
Dee feels the pressure. "I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't have any money and I don't know anyone in Washington. Could you let me stay here until I get my business together?"
Rhonda replies with a grin. "I got to have your room for business, but you can stay with me in my room. I just have one bed in it and I don't have a boyfriend."
Dee trembles, but thinks twice before he loses his temper. "I'll think about it. I have to find an emergency job or knock somebody down."
Rhonda grins and says, "You can knock me up."
Dee looks coldly and says. "I could knock you out!"
Rhonda informs Dee, "My friend runs an employment agency and I can send you to see her. She will find you a job, but you will have to pay her agency fees out of your check."

Sly (Aleatha Allen) (both White); Cookie Brown, chocolate chipped Nashville pretty-pretty; Stella (sexy Black Asheville, NC songtress); sexy & teasing young Tish (White); Rev. Howie (Black businessman/head of Asheville church & owner of motel/brotheral in Knoxville) (a certified con- artist & good man) and Wilbur Teague (womanizing and conniving boyhood friend of Dee) all join Dee & company in humorous scams and soap opera activity and sex antics; too. Dee rescues mother of orphans from meanie bank foreclosure with bank fraud scam. Dee elopes with 20 year virgin, Martha Washington, who lost virginity first night out with Dee, with her over-protective mother, Ms. Magnolia Washington, in hot pursuit. Ms Magnolia falls victim to meanies that Dee & company brings to justice. Blacks cash in on stock market inside info with help from Black "paper-man"/scam-master; liquor still scam occurs; Dee & company over-come crooked police chief & judge; Black hanging & shooting take place; surprise and happy soap opera ending in Dee's love life. Part III possible, with great success.

DONALD ABERNATHY FREEMAN, Author, Poet, Scriptwriter, Songwriter, & Inventor/Designer of 'PAPER- MEN, SCORPIO, CON-MEN I & II" was born November 10, 1934 in High Point, N.C. Having left there after birth he resided in Hickory, N.C. to age seven and was raised in Columbus, Ohio through age eighteen. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952- 1956 and U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He resided in Washington, D.C., North Carolina, and Memphis, TN. and later Nashville in the Sixties and early Seventies. He owned and operated a furniture & appliance store in Memphis on Beale Street and also operated several nightclubs during Sixties. In the Seventies he traveled and resided in Charlotte, NC where he sold over four million dollars in furniture & appliances personally, known as "Super Don" (the super salesman who opened door for Blacks to get credit, otherwise denied). The Author has traveled throughout North America and Europe and is well versed in Black History dating from the late Forties, especially civil right activity out of Fifties, Sixties & Seventies and Memphis. The Author is an authority on various white collar scams, especially commercial paper and confidence games generally, although not basically or currently a con-man himself.
"PAPER-MAN, SCORPIO, CON-MEN I & II" creative process started in 1979 and has went through multiple and ongoing revisions extending to publishing via 1stBooks Library in 2002. Author was incarcerated for worthless checks/conspiracy in N.C. 1985-91 and later federal prison (1996-98) for bank fraud conspiracy (alleged leader of fraudulent check ring) where he wrote scripts, songs (some with collaborators) and invented and revised earlier concepts of "off- spring or tie-in consumer products", coupled with music videos/songs, to be commercialized and marketed in book version and subsequent movie version.
During 1960's Author's nightclub business dealings put him into music, the Memphis Sound and also inspired his book storyline. He booked or employed or came in contact with many musicians/artist including BARKAYS, TEMPREES, EBONY WEB, JUNIOR WELLS HAMPTON, SOUL CHILDREN (J. BLACKFOOT & NORMAN WEST, etc.), EDDIE FLOYD, O.V. WRIGHT, LUTHER INGRAM, ISAAC HAYES, and many others. He plans to involve some of his old friends in songs and music of subsequent movie version, plus others he was incarcerated with or collaborated with Author on songs in this book. "P.S.C. I & II" is a tribute to musicians and others (MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR; N.J. & HAROLD FORD, SR. & others of that great era out of Memphis, TN. and should be fueled by great public interest. It's also a Eulogy to others who put one foot on a banana peeling and the other in the graveyard. Those who went to jail, lost everything and were forgotten by their own peers. The storyline is a salute to others who went on to fame and fortune. Its a very entertaining and enlightening story to those who read this fictional and sometimes humorous action-adventure-political, based upon some true situations that occurred in 1960's civil right activity background.
Author brings the world a multi-faceted commercial package which includes two books (part one & two) under same cover; proposed subsequent movie version; originals songs/music/videos; and original new to the world consumer merchandising shown in book version that make reader feel like he or she is at the subsequent movie version.
