About the Book

I would like to give you a small glance into my past, along with my background and me in business. The introduction to my book gives you some insight to what my books contains along with the table of contents. I have had both failure and success in business. I followed the rules and did what was needed to start my businesses with the help of many, many people. To name just a few, I talked to my family, my friends, the Small Business Development Center, the Small Business Administration, Kiwanis, the Chamber of Commerce, various bank officers, other business owners, and others. I can go on and on with my list the truth is I talked to everyone, and purchased every get-rich scheme you can think of in chasing the American dream.

It has taken me over fifteen years of chasing my dreams to get to this point, as I had no true guidelines along the way. There was a book here, a class here, and some help there, but nothing out there that I was aware of that would tell me everything I needed to know or simply put all the sources in one place that would make the process of starting a business easier.

I read books some I enjoyed and some I didn’t. Each time I read a book, I often asked myself why I did not write a book. I have helped people in various throughout my life as that was how I was raised by my parents, and the lord tells me that is what we are suppose to do right. If I had to look back, I believe I spent more time helping others more than I helped myself.

In 2001, sometime in the month of January, I woke up and said there has to be something for me, and I said that I want something for myself. This is around the time I had just turned forty years of age so call it a mid life crisis if you will.

I went out started four businesses in 2001 and started my book on how to start a business in 2002 and after six months of writing my book I have submitted it to you.

My book could have been longer, but I feel it would have been confusing to some and my goal was to make my book easy and useable for all.

My book is so direct and so detailed that if you can't walk away from it and start a business, then you should not start a business. The information I give with step by step instructions, along with my resources for starting a business will be all you need to start a business, to network and advertise your business, to seek help for your business.

My philosophy and that of others is that everyone one should have a business, if not just to offset the taxes for the nine to five job you have. Your income will increase from 6,000 to 30,000 each year just to start any home based business right from the start, and all you have to do is spend one hour each week doing what you enjoy.

I don't want to sound like a salesman, but I'm so excited about my book that I want you to be excited, as well. If you are trying to break free from the rat race or just want to do something different, then I encourage you to purchase my book. After all, how many authors give you their email address and invite you to contact them if you need help? None I'm aware of. My book will save you hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars in starting a business, so don't get off the couch and read my book, the mind is a terrible thing to waste, or is it? What are you waiting for you have everything to look forward to, or how about this, read my book today for a better tomorrow.

O.K., I know it's a bit off the wall, but I did and so can you, as I'm making it happen and so can you. After reading my book and starting your business, let me know how things are going. I would love to add your name to my next book as a success story, no matter how big or small.

I wish great success to you.

About the Author

Hello, my name is James Buford Bingham Jr. and the son of James and Versie Bingham. I have two brothers and two sisters. I’m the proud father of three children one-step daughter and three grandchildren with another grandchild on the way. I grew up in Chicago and spent my summers in Kentucky and Virginia. I first became an entrepreneur at the early age of ten when I began my first business as a shoeshine boy. By the age of ten I was making fifty dollars per week shining shoes. I went on to be a stock boy at the age of twelve and worked this job until the age of seventeen.

After high school, I joined the United States Navy. During my navy career I lived and traveled throughout the United States along with certain parts of Europe. After leaving the navy, I lived in New Orleans, Louisiana for several years. During my time in New Orleans, I went to college and majored in business. During college I managed several businesses, and after college I became a state police officer for several years. I had the pleasure to experience divorce and left Louisiana by returning back to Chicago, Illinois. Back in Illinois I met a wonderful women named Patricia Galle and later I married her. I then went to truck driving school and drove as a professional driver for one year then I became a licensed Commercial Driving Instructor in the State Of Illinois for about one year. I observed the success of my students in starting a business and chose to do the same by starting a trucking company with several trucks. After several years in business and increased fuel prices I sold my trucking company and went back into the general workforce. I had the pleasure for the first time in my life to experience unemployment. During my unemployment period I invented six entertainment board games. I went back to school to enhance my computer skills and became a web developer. Shortly after returning to school my father became ill, and I moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee to be near my parents.

Shortly after arriving to the Tri State area I decided to use my business and people skills by starting not one but several businesses. I have been privately consulting for start up businesses since nineteen ninety-four. In the past, I self-published works in poetry, as well as how-to books. I have written a second book called the college maze that I have self-published. I have a third book I’m working on called The American Trucker, which will be my first novel.

I have experienced both failure and success in business. Each failure was a learning lesson and only made my drive for success even stronger. Each failure gave me more knowledge and power to build on for my next successful venture. I have been running that I have owned along with others that I did not own for about twenty years.

I have written this book for you in order to give you some insight as what it takes to not only start a business, but also motivate you in doing so. My book will provide you with the needed information and resources to help you start a business. I had no book to help me when I got started so I have no doubt that you will appreciate this book I have written for you.
