As we cross the threshold into the new millennium clearly
man on earth, willingly or not, is experiencing a rapid reawakening. Unthinkable
acts of violence and aggression, deceptive business practices, political leaders
with ambiguous skills and cheating hearts, as well as natural catastrophes have
struck a bloody blow to our consciousness. At this point the message should
be crystal clear: Transformation is a critical necessity. We must recognize
and address the needs and concerns of all humanity if we are to live in harmony.
We must change our perspective of a world “out there” and understand
its relationship to our world “in here.” To quote the distinguished
Martin Luther King: “ We must all learn to live together, or we will be
forced to die together." What a powerful, appropriate, and timely message.
The daunting question is, how do we begin this process of change?
We can begin with a better understanding of why we are who we are as individuals.
Numerology is an insightful and extraordinary tool. It can facilitate in the
process of unraveling our complex personalities and understanding the life experiences
that we attract. What are our strengths and potentials? What challenges and
opportunities in life will be presented to us? Are there better or perhaps less
favorable times to pursue our dreams and desires? We can also gain valuable
insight into the motivation of others. Numerology answers the question: Why
is this happening to me again (and again)? Moreover, awareness of the metaphysical
teachings that support numerology can facilitate a life lived more congruently
and with compassion for our fellow man.
As a child, I can remember gazing out of my bedroom window,
fascinated by the moonlit heavens and the brilliant stars twinkling in the night.
Always curious, my questions were endless and typically pertained to the nature
of God and man. I was raised as a Catholic, and for me the Sunday Mass, heavy
with the pungent aroma of incense and hypnotic chanting, was a reverent, mystical,
and awe-inspiring experience. Who was God? Where was God? I begged my parents
to enroll me in parochial school, and when they complied I felt certain that
“all would be revealed." Hey, I was just a kid! However, in school
when I pressed for answers to perplexing questions, the customary reply was,
“it's God’s will.” Although I humbly accept that there are
limits to our understanding of divine nature, this pat answer, combined with
my years of religious schooling, left me with a feeling of confusion….and
a newfound resentment and anger toward “God." Was I (were we all
for that matter) at the mercy of a vengeful and schizophrenic deity? For many
years following my parochial school experience, my questions remained unanswered.
Inevitably, my quest for spiritual truth led me to the filed of metaphysics
and down many varied paths, some difficult, all enlightening.
Approximately twenty-five years ago, I was introduced to a
well-known metaphysician and numerologist, Dr. Kevin Quinn Avery. A close friend
of mine gifted me with a personal numerological reading with Kevin in Manhattan.
I knew nothing of numerology, had never read any of Kevin’s books, and
my knowledge of astrology was limited to my sun sign. Kevin startled me with
a very matter-of-fact and accurate reading of my personality and present life
situation. How does he do that I wondered? Kevin told me that this “reading”
was not psychic; it was quite simply based on my full name at birth and my birth
date. He went on to explain that names and birth dates have certain vibrational
influences and, when correctly interpreted, would present an accurate picture
of one’s past, present, and future. It would also indicate motivation
and personality traits. I was intrigued. But just in case… I sent a number
of my friends to Kevin for a reading. They too came away feeling as I did. Now
I wanted to learn more about this newfound science. My brother offered to purchase
Kevin’s teaching manuals for me, and I gladly accepted, with Kevin’s
assurance that he was only a phone call away. Little did I know that I had just
embarked on a lifelong journey that would ultimately reveal the answers to my
questions as well as prove to me the existence of a loving God-force. Kevin
did indeed avail himself to me whenever I had a question. I’m quite sure
that, for those first few years I tried the man’s patience; however, he
always remained steadfast--sometimes stern, always helpful.
Kevin also communicated a few words of caution that I now pass
on to you. Although I do not subscribe to fear tactics, nor am I neither a fatalist
nor a pessimist, I do believe in karma as a keystone of this experience that
we call our "life story." I believe that once you open the scared
book of knowledge to any of the metaphysical sciences you become responsible
for the moral use of this information. To use it to manipulate, control, or
in any way hurt another person will incur a monumental karmic debt. So be forewarned.
I wish I could say that all of those involved in the metaphysical field adhere
to a code of ethics, but unfortunately it is not true. Along the way, we all
must learn how to discern truth from fiction. Development of your spiritual
self is the key.
