Travelers You’ve been on my roads before and traced my footsteps We are travelers, who’ve gone the same roads before We’ve traveled the country, breathing in fresh air A friend who travels along side of me,
following the thoughts that I leave on those pathways,
stopping at those favorite places I’ve been
feeling the same warm sun, spiriting the same wind.
road the same ocean liners to a similar shore,
intersections of laughter and freeways of the heart,
walking and pausing much the same where roads depart.
enveloping the moods that hesitate there,
seeing peach trees and farm fields passing us by,
we shape and color our own clouds in the sky.
your valued thoughts make good company.
Though soon, our travels do diverge at last
the roads that lead home to your door, are many and vast.

About the Author
Donna Elks grew up in rural Eastern North Carolina. After ten years as a Health Services Technician in the United States Coast Guard, she returned home to North Carolina, where she currently resides. She has a variety of interests, which include travel, music, reading and history. She is currently working on a novel about her childhood memoirs, which she describes as colorful, funny and "very southern".
